Windows 10 is poorly programmed,a mix of source codes from Windows 8 and Windows 7 + a few changes and that's Windows 10,I have tested a lot of Operating systems,From Windows 95 to the latest version of 10,complex software that i used in Windows 7 didn't work at all with Windows 10,
I have experiecnced a lot of weird bugs and problems, from start menu crashes,Windows Store crashes, and installed software that suddenly do not run.
Complex simulations and emulations won't even start.
It also effects games, and the most embarssing thing is the a game from Microsoft themselves crashes because of Windows 10...
and it's Quantum Break:

Windows 10 doesn't care about me
from forcing me to have useless software,to send my data to the microsoft servers for the use of ads,
That data worth money and microsoft just take it from you, with the opearting system you have paid for.
I used Windows 10 Enterprise 64bit which is not targeted from the avearge user,
It has the most features, even more than the pro version and still has the useless software and one drive that in normal ways you can't delete it.
and the updates just do whatever they want...

Conclusion
Windows 10 the most unstable OS i have ever seen, even Windows Vista's code was much better.
I spent more time on fixing problems than using the OS.
After removing all the junk and spying with DWS(http://dws.wzor.net/) The system used less than 1GB of ram on idle,no internet usage with DWS on idle,no stupid pop ups.
even after DWS and disabling manually windows update,I had a problem with the UI...
There are 2 things drom everything- 2 control panels (Settings and Control Panel),2 Music players (Groove music player and Windows media Player)...
Why not having one control panel for everything?,Why all of this mess and confusion?
Why forcing users to use "One drive" and other useless things the uses the system's resources?
I use Windows 7 on all my computers and dual boot with Windows 10 on my main computer for DX12 games only...
I bought almost evey Windows version since Windows 95,
I own: 95,98,XP Proffesional,Vista Home Premium,7 Ultimate,I tested Windows 10 Enterprise in the lab of my work place.
Windows 7 was very stable even from it's early versions,I decided to use the RC version in my main computer until the RT version is released.

Solution
Picking on ME again... it couldn't help it, it was given an impossible job, make 98 more like NT

Vista gets a bad rap, it was fine if your PC was built to run it. Same probably applied to ME too...

Wait, did I just defend ME... it gave me a few years of pain but the years make me forget. I even got over the twitch.

My pc wasn't built to run ME and it suffered under the consequences. I got good at installing windows that year.

VM is not a best way to test stability, too much depends on host OS and can't access HW directly.

My old Vaio is now W10, no problems so far. Today it started downloading a new version of W10 pro, dont remember the version numbers. That i cancelled. Even older than that Lenovo died to black screen of death, when its W10 updated itself. And that Vaio is still trying to recover from attempted update. Seemingly running "restarting" forever. Will see.

Newest is Lenovo w 8.1, and im keeping it that way to be safe. It works just fine, w. all updates accepted, expect "get free W10" hidden/prevented.
No reason to change anything, as long as the 8.1 support runs. W10 is in my case not a bit better, but worse in some ways, mainly in controlling the updates.

Someone above complained not to have access to a landline. I dont either, must use a 3/4G dongle. It is, however connected to a Wi-Fi hub, witch serves 8.1, 10, and an Android phone w no problems.
No update has ever disturbed that, nor quitted connection of any of those.

Instead, Windows x tries to, when dongle is connected straight to computer, tell me this is a pay per data connection, regardless what i tell them. It however isn't.
Running connetion via Wi-Fi hub, does neither of them suggest that anymore.

W10 even refuses to update itself when in 3/4G connection. Tells me to wait for Wi-Fi.

maybe so, but for some reason Google Chrome is now fubar'd for me, especially with Youtube video. I've reinstalled Chrome, used the cleanup utility they provide, got rid of all extensions, even tried the Beta version and it's still not working.

I tried Firefox and it's really sluggish.

EDGE is the only browser working perfectly for me. Weird.

(I'm also annoyed that BING is forced now for Cortona. I find BING laughably useless compared to Google. I was even thinking of getting a Windows phone, but they dropped that so it's a non-issue now.)

Have you tried the new 64 bit version of firefox? The 32 bit one ran like garbage on Win 10 for me as well, the new 64 bit version runs great.

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

i doubt you still be using that pc in 22 years anyway. Its the indirect effects that might be more worrying. though no one will be running 32 bit linux in 22 years, many embedded systems still will be and who knows what they can do when its suddenly 1970 again for them.

In 22 years I'll probably be 6 feet under anyway. My oldest pc is16 years old running xp but it still fires up and works so I keep it around. I built this pc just to learn linux but it's addictive. Since I don't play any games, windows is history now, but I still have xp and 7 around the house.

my oldest pc is a lian li from 2005 i guess, its dead now as it needs a GPU you would pay too much money to use.. its still AGP after all. Was reason I stopped using it, parts weren't worth buying when the newer parts were better and cheaper. I only kept it as I liked the case too much to throw away. Don't wish your life away :)

I am getting de ja vu now...

I do not understand what this is really about? W10 is in no way better than 8.1, but the differnce is actually minimal. I however hate W10:s tendency to make its own decicions.
8.1 at least asks what operations do i allowe. But i live w. both, considering 8.1 more reliable, at least for now.

All this is for home PC most administrators still dont install Windows 10 in production environment because there is too much unknown special when new MS Windows update dont tell you what they do just improve OS work is not good for admins. In future if MS fix most unknowns administrator will migrate to Windows 10 until then they will use Windows 7 even after 2020. Dont forget the XP support wasn't stop for China even after the official date it was only for them ofc, but still that speak a lot.

This text is challengin to follow, or understand. I heard that US navy still uses XP, because it's there, updated per costly private request, and not prone to attacks anymore. What is there not to like? If it still serves the original purpose?

Do not hate yourself. Many do have some kind of relationship w. an old computer. I fex. do.
They are not scrap, until proven otherwise. Old and new can coexsist, fine by me.

Now that you mention it, I should have never tossed my Zeos 386sx last year! I bet nobody has even heard of Zeos, but it was my very first pc back in around 1989 I think. I'm drifting away from the Windows 10 discussion!

Can I just point out to all you people that keep making the point about Microsoft collecting data, as I said on the first page of this thread it can be turned off and (I didnt say this bit) the majority of other companies have been doing it for a long time. Even Google sells our data and how many of you crying Wolf about the data collection use Google? Im going to gess that its most of you.

Seconded. Whether Firefox or Chrome, the 64bit versions are the way to go.

I do not believe that any kind of "privacy" ever existed in internet. Data flows through operating parties servers, regardless what your setup is. It's merely a daydream to think that you can somehow regulate any of this.
Then again: does this matter? Seemingly no, everybody still uses web. So what's the fuss about?

Hadn't been noticing too much of an issue with Firefox or Chrome, although Seamonkey has been having some fits with Flash recently. But that was starting to happen before the W10 upgrade, so I suspect I may have to stop using it as much in the future.

As far as Bing, I believe I've seen some links where you can change the search engine Cortana uses. That would probably help a bit.

Thanks for your thoughts OP, I've seen some of these problems with machines that clients bring in to be worked on. And I agree, why can't we have everything in Settings, why does there have to be a separate control panel?

Also, Edge is better than IE, but still sucks in my opinion. I prefer Firefox over any other browsers.

Photonboy, I've never had any problems with Firefox being sluggish, although I did have 32GB DDR3 1866MHz which was probably helping in that department.

I also have this problem where the graphics drivers will crash, then they'll re-initialize and I'll be back at my desktop at 800x600, but I'm not sure whether that's a 10 issue or a driver issue.

I ran into an issue where Far Cry 3 wouldn't load. I had to turn the compatibility mode all the way back to Windows 98 for it to finally work. Other than that Windows 10 is the fastest, most stable platform that I've used to date and I've been a Windows user since '98. That being said I'm using hardware that's less than a year old. FX 8350, 16GB Ram, 1TB of SSD, R9 290X. I run games, record my games, render them, upload them and I never have a single issue. I haven't seen one blue screen since I downloaded it. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

I have not used IE or Edge ever, only Chrome. It is easy to choose fex Chrome for your preferred browser. BING is not a solution for anything, merely a poor copy of Google search engine.
