that's possible!
now it's imperative that you check your logfile! check the file and look for the name of the "Protein" you are working on. If you are right and your client tries to fold the same workunit over and over again, you should delete these files in the "Folding@Home-Directory":
queue.dat
/work/*
the rest is nice but not necessary: unitinfo.txt; step*.pdb; blabla.
the things you need to keep are:
client.cfg
FAHConsole*.exe or winFAH.exe depending on which version you use. (graphical client or console). the rest will be created (work-dir; queue.dat) or downloaded (FAHCore*.exe)
actually once you delete "queue.dat", another workunit will be fetched (so this is the minimum you should delete)

@sjonnie: no worries; the update after I wrote the "milestone-post", you overtook ape again... so it hasn't been so long!

Is it possible that this work unit is my problem? I have still not finished it and my computer keeps crashing, possibly at the same point.

It could be the Fah_Core that is giving you grief.
Check your log file, and see if the last entries for the fold are jiberish. If they are do as suggested, but also delete the core the fold was using. ( I think it's the 78 core)

Ya if you read my earlier posts (disregard the rudeness) you'll see I was on your team then left now I'm back. Anyway I'd like to congrat Fronsse thats some nice folding. I've decided to stick to "over 5mb" option since I can do a 600 pointer in under 3 days compared to 80-120 points a day on the cheapo WU's.

BTW, for having my AMD X2 3800 for 3 weeks my electric bill dropped $18 (thats 24/7 for AMD compared to maybe 36 hours a week for my Intel @ 8.26Cents a Kilowatt hour)

It's taking you almost 3 days to do a 600 pointer on an X2 3800?
My 3200 does one in 46 hours. Clock that puppy up, load 2 folds in the console version, and you can bring one of those folds home per day.

This is an HP after all and I wont flash the bios till I get my rebate. Tell me how to run 2 F@H and I'll do it.

EDIT: And 3 days is becuase I use it to play games also and Folding has to stop while I play. I figure 49-52 hours uninterupted.

The X2s can run one fold per core, but you have to use the console version. I only run the graphics client, so I will ask that someone more familiar with the console version guide you.
I know guys, I should run the console version because it is more efficient, but I'm lazy.

hi Teh!
sjonnie has explained it in detail...
to be honest, I'm a little to lazy, too. can't you search for posts of sjonnie?
the basics are: D/L the console-version. make 2 work-dirs. (eg: c😛rogam filesFolding@Home1 & c😛rogam filesFolding@Home2)
start the console-version from the command-line with the switches "-configonly" do the config as sjonnie says (eg service? yes! big packets? 'course!).
Start the 2 as a service from the "services.msc". Done!

I also run the Graphic version of folding becuase I like it better. I will search for sjonnie's post but I doubt running 2 foldings will last long for me as this is my only comp I can afford to run and shutting off folding always makes my 600 pointers dissapear and I gotta restart them.

Again congrats Fronsse hope you stick with it, you'll be in the top 25 in no time. Also we should really bug people that post here but stopped folding for us.

im a dual-corer also.
But that config only thing didnt work for me.
So every time i run the two instances of F@H i have to pop into the task manager and assign each core a task.

Not really a problem in my case. only takes a few seconds, and i rarely reboot.
With my dual cores at 2500Mhz im doing over 400 points a day.

I dont mind 600 points every 72 hours its still way better than most of this team. That is the main reason I say hound everyone that posts here to fold or dont help them.

And also I'd like to say that even if you only have 1 comp (like me) any folding is better than no folding.

Oh sorry I got your panties in a bunch becuase I forgot the '. Why don't you check my spelling next.

And yes I'm serious If everyone that posts here folded for even 2 hours a day that would be an improvement.

Panties in a bunch ?

You are the one who is making ridiculous remarks about not helping someone just because they're not folding . You ever thought that as adamant as you are about folding, someone else may have reasons not to fold?

well I think, they're just joking around... - anyway's they have a nice forum and from a short look at it, quite a big community!

Gotta love that neon green. Anyway the reason their beating us is that they fold 88k a day compared to our 12k. 88k a day is good enough to be in the top 25.

it's not only the neon-green! they can post with their EOC-Sig-Image in their signature. they've got those drop-down-menus to jump the different categories (those we had in the old forum-layout). and last but not least, they've got it properly rendered for firefox, the browser of my choice.
