I've been playing every Civ game since Civ III, and Civ V was my favorite game because simply it's more complex than the former ones. And my favorite civilization are the Egyptians, because it gave me an advantage when building wonders.

Out of all the Civilization games, what was your favorite civilization to play, and why?

I'd have to say Civ 5. Before Civilization 5's expansion packs(mostly G&K and BNW,) the 4th entry would have been my go-to, but since 5 is now significantly more fleshed out and is just less clunky and plain prettier it gets my vote. Seeing Civ 6's devs playing and watching the trailers have got me really excited however. Taking some of the elements I loved about both and polishing them up for 2016! This could just be my new favorite entry =D

Civ V, it was the altogether experience, smooth and complex and varied. The two previous Civ games I played were simpler, and I would lose interest after a while

My favorite in the series was Civ V. Not that I didn't enjoy the previous titles, but the spit and polish of V impressed me, all without making any interface mistakes that were too jarring. (Granted, I didn't play it right at release)

Then again, I've always been a sucker for every new bell and whistle game devs can pack into their latest product. As long as they aren't critically broken, anyway. ^ ^

Civ V was the first civ game I had played at the time, (went back and played all of the others) the number of times I played "just one more turn" until 3 A.M. is appalling. But I never cease to enjoy it. Also I'm probably the only person that really liked Civ BE.

Since alpha centauri isn't a choice here, Civ III because it was closer to centauri than Civ IV. I skipped out on Civ V, but am interested in VI.

Civ V was awesome and takes the cake. But I'll go with the Call to Power games. I miss them. It wasn't just land you had to play on. You had a space "plane," a ground "plane," and I think an ocean "plane." While they were far from perfect, I really would like to see a main Civ title carry on beyond the modern era into the future more. Hoping we'll see something like that with Civ VI since the main game looks fairly complete as is.

Also a supporter of the "Alpha Centauri is my most played and favorite civ game" but if I have to give a game with "Civ" in its name then it will have to be Civ 4 due to several mods.

It is a toss up between Civ II and III. Civ II was a love hate relationship because I would stay up in bed until 3 am saying just one more turn, one more turn knowing that I had to get up in 3 hours to go to work. Civ III because of the improved graphics and the game play felt more involved.

Civ V is my favorite. I felt that it kept all the things I enjoyed about the earlier games and vastly improved on them. With all the DLC it feels like the most complete of the games and the additional content allows for much longer play time.

I think Civ III was my favorite, but that is based on play time. I think my friends and I played thousands of hours of that one. I've liked them all and will be playing Civ VI at some point in the future, no doubt.

Civilization 5 is my most recent memory and being able to dominate the world at the end of the 1800s with a fully upgraded military and air force was awesome!

I have to say Civ I because of the nostalgia. 12 years old, sneaking time on a school Macintosh in the early nineties. Taking my square tiles into battle, the victory noise burning into my brain--duh-dah!. Also the frustration of a giant stack of tanks getting destroyed all at once.

A little more recently, I have to say I loved Alpha Centauri, because of the nuke animations (and ridiculous city names--e.g. "Fecundity Gorge"). I know it's juvenile, but I found it very entertaining to win by turning half the map into giant water-filled craters.

Civilization V, because it was the first Civilization game i had played, and i had spent about 1000 hours on it, i enjoy it more over the other Civ games as the graphics are vastly improved over 4 and with the expansions has a very similar gameplay but more user friendly.

I'd have to say Civ 5 just from my playtime. The incorporation of alot of features, gameplay, graphics, playable nations, and all around great game.
But there's a lot of aspect I miss from the older civs, I do miss having actual spy units. I still think the privateers should be able to enter other nations borders regardless of treaties like in the older civs. And that upgradeable throne room.. lol yeah actually do miss that. Something about going from a cave with animal print to something modern to greet your ppl in is nice. I think especially with the higher focus of multiplayer in today's industry this could be a interesting feature to bring back down the line once other more relevant game play/multiplayer quirks are ironed out.
As for old school Civ genre games instead of just features, I seriously enjoyed Alpha Centauri. It does warm the heart to see so many others voice the same opinion.
I'm looking forward to Civ VI and am expecting it to top Civ 5.
Will Civ 6 meet our expectations? Can it stand the test of time?

Civ V is the only one I've played, and due to this, it has to be my favourite. I've even got back to it within the last month or so, spurred on by the coverage of the new Civ VI. One weekend I clocked something like 25 hours in game - enough to complete 1 game.

I like Korean civilization the best because of the science boost it gives. I like to keep ahead of competitors in research. The downside is the others stealing my tech!

Civilization III, without question. I grew up playing it, and learned to love its quirks.

Civ IV was far too clunky, and I never bothered with it, so there was a high learning curve on Civ V. Combat requiring multiple turns to resolve combined with the one unit per hex felt too slow to me. (Although I have gotten into it more with Beyond Earth.)

Civilization V since it is the only Civ game I have played. By the time I started to try a Civ game, 5 was already the latest version. It got me curious when it was featured in one of the Steam sales. I instantly got hooked. Still not a talented player though since I just started not too long ago.

My favorite was CivII mostly because its one of the first pc games I remember getting into as a kid, I spent so many hours playing it. For the longest time I thought the covered wagon image on the settlers was a guy with crazy white hair sticking out each side haha

I loved Civ 4 with the road to war mod, it made me buy a new PC 5 years ago. My favorite civ was the Egypt so I could get all the bonus early when I really needed the help!
