CIV IV. The game that wasn't all about op-conflict but where negotiation could actually lead you to an enjoyable victory.

My favorite Civ was Civ 1 as it was one of the first computer games that I had a chance to play with extensively when it was released.

Favourite is Civ IV Fall from Heaven because it was the closest thing to a new master of magic for a long time, after a lot of disappointments, at least until Endless Legend which Civ 6 is learning a lot from. Fantasy really adds a lot to the gameplay which can get a bit samey after a while.

I'm certainly not buying the game and should I win I will probably have it in my steam library for a couple of years before I touch it. I started out on Civilization 1 in 1993, playing in the office of a major Defense Contractor. I probably spent a good 1000 hours in that year on Civ 1. Continued on, while reassigned to Thailand, for another 2 years with approx. 3000 hours playing in the office. I played probably another 1000 hours Civ 2 and 1500 hours Civ 3. Skipped Civ 4 (even though I have it in my Steam Library) and probably spend a good 5000 hours on Civ 5. You probably now understand why I won't touch Civ 6, because I played/wasted in excess of 10000 hours Civilization over the passed 23 years and I think I need to stop wasting time on this game that is truly addictive.

Civ IV was my first Civ, and my favorite so far. A lot of depth, and the expansions were great. Looking forward to trying out Civ VI, it seems to be taking some lessons from Endless Legend, another game I really enjoy.

Favorite civ is Civ 5, especially playing as Japan which has a very powerful military bonus Bushido that is good throughout the game. Even if you're not going for military victory being able to defend much more effectively is always handy.

Fave civ game is Alpha Centauri. Nothing has ever come close, it's still captures my imagination with how different each faction is, the weirdness of the technologies, and the quotes each faction leader have.

Civ IV was my favorite, especially the culture mechanics and how you could gain cities without even firing a shot.

Civ 5 is definitely my favorite.
I love how civ 2 and 3 really made the wonders feel like great achievements but I always found myself winning via the race to space victory.
The problem was unit stacking made combat boring.
I also play civ 5 with my Wife which does make things more entertaining.

As for favourite civ to play I would usually pick something which food/science benefits while my Wife is all about military.

For me definitely Civ 1. I lost count of how many completed games I have under my belt. I actually skipped school sometime to play that game!

Civ II was my introduction to the series, I sunk the most time into Civ IV, then didn't play again until Beyond Earth caught my eye with the sci-fi aesthetic. I think VI will quickly become my favorite though.

Since I only looked at Civ 4, I guess it's my best, but I hope I get into the series with this one, because I'm very interested.

Civ4 was my first intro into the series of 4x strategy games having mostly come from shooters and RPGs prior to 2005 when it was released. So by default that is my favorite series as it opened my eyes to an entire new world of gaming genre (literally). I would LOVE to get Civ6!

Played all of them in various extend, but Civ 5 is my favourite so far. Most likely due to hexagonal map layout and extensive map creation options.

In Civ 5 I played russian due to their resource bonus. Not being much into fighting but prefer having all cities maxed up and all map covered up additional uranium resources were needed.

I played them all. And finding the one i loved the most is hard.
I played over 1000 hours in the first one, and the second one as well.
Civ I has a special place in my heart. But on the second one going multiplayer with some friends was supergreat as well =D

Third and fourth one I only played ~650 hours. So can't choose them.
But fifth one I'm nearly at a thousen yet again.

So all in all, I think I'll have to give first and second a shared "win" in my heart.

But i'm really hoping this new installment shall take that spot.

Civ2. Played strategy game religiously in the mid/late 90s, cycled between Civ2, Red Alert and Heroes of might and magic 2. Had civ games that lasted days.

My favourite one was the Shoshoni because I loved to have my empire huuuuge to cut off my opponents from high valuable resources 😀 Not the most op one but.. I reaaaally liked em ^^

My favorite was Civ V, with Gods and Kings and Brave New World, there was so much content. I loved Korea, as Science was one of the best aspects of the game. It was great being able to play hot seat with m y brother at a younger age, now Id love to play with friend but i cant afford it!
