poop, i got the registered version and put the resolution to 1280x1024and it smashed my score. now im at 4748.
i noticed that the other references used vista. does dx10 really have that much of an impact?
and ecs hasn't gotten back to me yet...

Nope, DX10 only effects DX10. 3D Mark06 is DX9. What was your card again? That plays a much larger role in 3D Mark.

yeah i have a evga 8600 gts running at 730~ and 1100~ memory. i need to reapply the thermal compound because i can't get much speed out of this before it burns.

this is getting weird. well if you guys can read this, i hit 5070 on 3dmark. which is apparently halfway on the scale that is next to the score. so maybe its not that bad. ecs still hasn't gotten back to me yet...

sorry for another quad post but i found this little tidbit on the net. these guys got a score of 9000 with their 8600 gts and they used a c2d 6300 which i believe has a 2mb cache like mine but is clocked higher. would an overclock get me these scores? by the way my gts is clocked higher than theirs.

NEVERMIND the 9500 score, that was using 3dmark05 not 06 so i guess its irrelevant.
and i will try pcmark...

yeah... nothing from ecs yet.

The unregistered version of 3Dmark06 is the one that everyone uses to benchmark.

whatever. my score didn't change much. im actually at 5030 or something now.
i also downloaded the crysis demo. at first it was all jarbled but after some tweaking and forceware changing i got it to work. tried the gpu test and scored an average of 29 fps on medium and 768 res.
another thing is, that game is just hard to play. the button layout is very inefficient and makes the game less fun. has anyone figured out why i can only see half of the replies?

^To play Crysis the way it's meant to be played you will need a good mouse with about 4+ buttons (ie G5). I have one button each for amor mode.

yeah i was thinking about getting a new mouse and keyboard but i haven't gotten around to it yet. crysis runs great on medium though. i havn't tried bumping some settings to high yet.
and i put half life 2 back on and played for a few hours. my average was 72 frames! that was a pretty big difference than before. i am starting to like this setup.

i just did loads of tweaking and i just upped my score huge!
this is with my gts at 720 and 1107, my dvddrive unplugged, card fan at max rpms, explorer and svchost processes ended, and a huge fan aimed inside the case.
also, 3dmark gets my cpu wrong online but the program says e4400. weird.

Anyone else notice the 4 and 6 look to have been photoshopped?

The 4 looks like its on a slightly different angle. The 6 looks to be sitting abit to low of the decimal point.

holy crap... i just got 5994. im going to get 6000 tonight.
that was with 24 processes running. and my card at 730/1120. i don't know what else to kill and how much more speed my card can take but we'll see!
also, if i bsel mod my cpu, will 2.4 ghz really do that much benchmarking wise?

ok im calm now. this was running 22 processes and clocked at 731/1122. im not trying anything higher until i get a new psu and bsel mod my cpu.

i know this is old, but i am having trouble with my overclocked setup. i finally did the bsel mod and i m running at 2.66 ghz. but my temps are through the roof and my fan is maxed and cant keep up. i bought a knew cooler and i was wondering if it will help. this is what i got.

i can't get through a benchmark w/o a reboot and im running 45-50 degrees C at idle.
