Currently have the following components

current Motherboard
AMD ROG Zenith Extreme x399

current CPU
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X 16-Core Processor, 3700 Mhz

I am considering a CPU upgrade.
Possibly

AMD Threadripper PRO 7000WX or 7975WX.

3 questions
How would I establish compatibility with my current motherboard?
Should I be considering a motherboard upgrade as well?
For CPU benchmark comparisons what is a good reference?

Thanks for any feedback!

your motherboard only supprts the cpus on this site with up to date Bios version:

with a 7000wx or similar you would need to upgrade the motherboard as well
e.g. to something like the ASUS ASUS PRO WS WRX90E-SAGE SE

How would I establish compatibility with my current motherboard?
by using the CPU's support list to tell you what processors can drop into the socket.

Should I be considering a motherboard upgrade as well?
You should since the 7000 series Threadripper processor need a TRX50 or WRX90 chipsetted motherboard.

For CPU benchmark comparisons what is a good reference?
What sort of tasks will you be taxing the processor/system with?
