Last Friday's User Friendly is relevant to interactive fiction, in a
sideways manner:

Sorry Richard, I'm not seeing the I-F connection. Either I am missing
something obvious or it is *really* sideways. At the risk of sounding
dense, could you spell it out for me please?

There really is an Ethan at Amanda, on the South Pole basis. It's Ethan
Dicks, and he's ported Dungeon to the ZMachine. He's posted in both raif
and rgif less than a month ago.

Okay, so how do these IF connections get dropped into User Friendly so
semi-regularly? Does Illiad lurk here?

Yep. One and the same.

Dunno about that, but Illiad started a storyline at the South Pole,
made some contacts, and things grew from there. There are several
of us here following the story to see where it ends up. I'm also
a hardware geek, so today's references to soldering irons, etc.,
are most apropos.

(and another locale-related I-F tie-in is my Inform tutorial "Alone
on the Ice", which can be found as ALONE.INF somewhere on the 'net
(used to be part of the "Inform for New Writers" tutorial set)).

ObZDungeon comment: had a couple of minor bug reports with ZDungeon
Release 13. The Thief is still a bit pesky when it comes to stealing
treasures. The problem is related to MDL/Inform differences in
approaches to score tallying. Working on an elegant solution.

No idea, though IIRC Ethan does read User Friendly.
