Sex and Death are both a part of life. Time for the media and the gaming industry to accept it already.

I thought Steam's platform for being the savior of gaming was the whole indie/creative developer thing? The concept of "letting developers develop".
Within their regulations apparently...

Really guys, were comparing the openness of japan? How many memes are on the internet that start with "And in Japan" or "only in Japan" dude, you want sexual openness fine, but where do you draw the line. You can buy used woman's underwear in vending machines in Japan. Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to such games as this (though i wouldn't play them, i prefer violence and actual real life sex is better 😀 ) but where do you draw the line. Sooner than later, were going to have tentacle X-Men cartoons as well if it goes unguarded.

[citation][nom]joeman99[/nom]Steam is a money machine with low distribution cost and it could profit from the addition of sexual themed games. Also sales of AO games on an online platform are likely to beat those of a store due to purchase shame. The real question is whether a publisher could make money off of it. But Steam Greenlight is an experiment in low production values anyway.[/citation]

the only games that are ao that really make money back are the anime style "dateing sim" games as the rights are cheap as hell and with a direct translation, they will make the money back, most of that is digital only at this point too. the market for AO games is really not there to support quality, the reason they even work in japan is because anime discs with 2 episodes on them can go for up to 100$ some times, in that example K-On went for that much, the games start out at 100-200$ range, usually in the 130$+ and keep in mind, japan is natoruous for crap pay and slave labor hours in these fields, yet they are happy to just make enough to go onto the next game.

could you see the above game costing more than 10$

the ao market like i said is effectively dead, and the only thing that can turn a proffit is getting a cheap licensed form a japanese one and translating it directly.

[citation][nom]madjimms[/nom]Bear in mind that games don't HAVE to have a rating.... It just makes the stores/distributors feel more secure about selling them.[/citation]

really... i know that its basically a requirement if you want on a console, and i cant think of a pc game, no matter how bad it is, that doesn't have a rating to it... the only one i thought didnt was mine craft but even that has a E10 rating.

i guess some of the sketchier games may not have a rating, but i wouldn't buy from most of those sites.

also i thought that the government forced games to be rated, than the esrb came up, just so government didnt set up their own board to do it.

also is it steam policy games must be rated?

Let's have equality then, allow adult games for both men and women
...
As far as shielding underage customers from this material that is easy too, you use your stored credit card details as age verification and if you don't meet the age then you cannot even see items in the Adult section, let alone DL and play
...
This is not a moral issue, it is a technical one, otherwise porn wouldn't exist

Also note, massive double standard seeing as Overlord 2 has a dirty 4-way scene, Mass Effect 2 you can get it on with just about everyone in the game and Duke Nukem Forever has a fantastic lapdance scene in a titty bar
...
Perhaps the writers of this game should allow you to kill the girls afterwards then they can call it an erotic FPS

[citation][nom]back_by_demand[/nom]massive double standard[/citation]

Maybe if the other games you mentioned were specifically designed for erotic content with a smattering of other features. As it is you're trying to compare apples to car parts.

In either case, it's Valve's choice. The only way around that is to start your own digital distribution service. It's not like the game would have sold well anyway. Maybe the Mom's Basement crowd, but the average person just really doesn't have the interest.

Valve will eventually have to clarify why it let Duke Nukem Forever be sold on Steam. It has lots of women (even though some are partially taken by some form of alien nature) with naked breasts and their bottom is also visible.

Also, in Mafia II, you can collect Playboy magazines along the game and they show naked women.

So, what is actually the rule here ?

[citation][nom]JonnyDough[/nom]Not to make this a religious debate but I'm so tired of conservatives. This is a religious, non-scientific mentality from a time when superstition ruled. Sex is part of nature. Embrace it.The Pledge of Allegiance should be re-written to not contain religious babble, as it was originally. Our money should have "In God We Trust" removed (because many of us feel we are being incorrectly represented as we do not believe in God!)We keep having idiot people dictate what is socially acceptable, people who are afraid of sex ruin our entertainment, when in truth we should promote healthy sex and educate our children about it. Perversion is not lust, do not confuse the two. True perversion (which involves violence and non-consent to sexual activity) comes from a lack of healthy sexual contact and healthy sexual growth during puberty, and actually leads to more rapists and sociopaths. The Bible belt is where the most online porn is consumed in America, and it is conservatives (i.e. those who claim/try to be celibate but obviously cannot be as it defies animal instincts) that end up doing the most grotesque acts. Good psychologists already know this.In other cultures, the most conservative areas are also where the most heinous crimes happen involving children or rape.We need to learn that to fight sexual assaults we actually need to EMBRACE sex in our culture and instead fight the conservative that leads to close-minded thinking and closet freaks that can't contain their lust and so do things to others against their will in secret.[/citation]

Embracing sexuality is different that feeding sexual addiction.

From you friendly social psychologist/ case manager.

I know you'll probably down vote this, but honestly it never has been proven that violence in video games does not produce a violent mindset. However lusting after another woman is a sin from a religious standpoint. I would advocate that sex is worse in video games then violence purely because violence in video games isn't really violence, but sex really is lust.

Steam achievements would have been funny for this game... sad 🙁(

Xyz has unlocked the "Extreme stimulation" achievement: Get aroused 5 times in a row within 2 minutes.

To think any of you have actually studied the Bible...pshh

I'm not saying I know absolutely everything there is to know about the Bible and Chistiananity, but many of you peoples' ideas are greatly skewed concerning violence and sex.

To be honest, I'd rather them take out the "In God We Trust" phrase as well as other empty phrases from US documents....Not to correlate that with my beliefs, but simply because those phrases are basically empty and meaningless. The only thing the USA (large majority of citizens) is concerned with is money, power, pride and themselves.

In America, sex is pretty much viewed as a crime, while violence is perfectly acceptable... Man I hate my ass-backwards country. Is there any Euro countries out there with lax immigration laws? Preferably about the Netherlands / Germany / Austria area?

If only shooters had dismemberment, i bet many of you would be disgusted.
Grenades tear people apart limb after limb with innards too, shooting high caliber rounds on a limb can separate it from the body, the head is more like an egg rather than solid meat, it explodes when shot by high-energy or multiple shots.

Yet, they make sexually themed games a taboo.
I agree with Valve taking it out because of the minors visiting the site, the teen mind does NOT understand sexuality correctly if it receives unreal messages from other sources, it develops correctly when interacting with actual people. I do not agree with them not giving support at all. Sex games are not particularly healthy in nature (IMO) but some people might just wanna try some different tastes of kinky and thats ok with me, as long as they do not degenerate the actually beneficious nature of sexual activity, and this game seemed to be kinda erotic but definetaly not depraved.

Have you ever thought that women are not interested in porn that much? Women prefer the real thing and they can get it much easier, I guess. I have yet to see a woman interested in porn.

This is why I loved Witcher 2.... it treated you like an adult and gave you violence and sex along with your storyline. It was a great game that other developers (like bioware) could learn from.

Even if our society is largely Christian, those Christians damned near all have premarital sex even without video games telling them to (tv and movies and music videos are another story). So why should video games be excluded from showing nudity?

They are already M rated and show tons of blood and gore that you couldnt show in a pg 13 movie or on basic cable. So if a rated R movie can show nudity (and most movies have the obligatory sex scene) games rated M should be allowed the same treatment

[citation][nom]alidan[/nom]there was penetration in this game.only leasure suit game that got an ao rateing was the newer crap ones. ill bet the old games could go to steam without a problem. lets not even go with graphical non violent, lets just go with implied, unless you are a major publisher, you will be slapped with a harsher rateing. take a look at Indigo Prophecy, the sex in that game is no worse than a R rated movie, but it got cut out of the american release. that was before big companys started putting boob into games though.but look at the new witcher 2, that has full frontal women, gta4 has a full frontal man, but add the two in the same sceen... instant AO and no one wants to deal with them. steam is mostly computer games, the only reason computer games don't have AO games is because they almost cant turn a profit in america, so we only get import games, and even than they don't have much money in them. religious do gooder faimaly friendly companies had music cut, movies cut, all for the sake of they dont want graphic content in their stores. you also have the nintendo/sony/microsoft that dont want AO on their systems at all. with steam, you could make that content not even visible, to anyone under 18, steam has no real competition, so i cant see why they would institute no ao at all. no they wouldn't, the ao market even if it were around, would make very little money, meaning low production values all around. and low production value games, i don't care if they are a genre you love, are usually passed over. i have no delusion that we would get a gta game that would go for broke and do full AO only, but giving an ao game a chance, that's all i want. allow true uncut content to be available. look at most of the other english countries, sex is more accepted than violence.for me personally, it would suck if violence is censored instead of sex, as i love games with full dismemberment, but what sucks is that you can have full graphically accurate dismemberment will full blood and organ physics, but you show even a moment of sex in the game, that's what pushes it to AO.[/citation]

This is unrelated to the topic at hand, but indigo prophecy was a blast of a movie/game; played through in one sitting.

On topic: I do not understand how 50 shades of gray is a modern literary success about bdsm, you put the same thing in a game, another creative art, and it gets a rating, or, in this case, banned from the distributor.

The rating system is pointless; evidenced by all the 10 year olds on violent, MA rated games.

The values people cling to are asinine; we are approaching 7 billion people in the world. I hate to be the one who breaks the news, but people are having sex, a lot.

we can kill anyone and anything in a variety of ways, shooting,s tabbing, burning, melting , chopping, bashing etc but sex is nono.

Heh Americans.
