Question VGA monitor suddenly reads "No VGA Cable"

As said in the title, my VGA capabilities suddenly ceased to work on my monitor. I had recently gotten an adapter to connect my VGA monitor to my DVI graphics card. Once I plugged it in and turned on the PC, everything was working perfectly. Then, I went to plug in my Oculus Rift into the HDMI port of my gpu and all of a sudden my screen went black. I tried removing the HDMI cable, but it still said "No VGA Cable", I tried a different cable, I checked for update on my graphics card, went into BIOS to make sure everything was correct, all to no avail. I am stuck and have no idea what the problem could be, any tips?

Make sure your DVI to VGA adapter is not loose.
You might need to unplug and re-plug it or reboot the system.
