I too will buy Fallout 4 on the day of release. Probably X-Com 2 as well. I don't do that with too many games, in fact I'm usually about a year behind just because it's so hard to play everything I want to.

@Frag I started gaming when I was a kid with Pong ( 1979ish ) and then the Atari 2600. Moved on from there to the NES and then the SNES. I even had an Adam. I had friends with the first Playstation and Sega Genesis but I moved into PC gaming and even in the mid 90s it was just better than consoles.

I'm going to wait a few weeks then probably pick up a 980 Ti for my newish ( April ) 1440p monitor. I don't think that the new AMD card will be as affordable and so far it seems to be slower according to rumors but I'll at least wait and see. It will give Nvidia partners time to get non reference cards in the channel if nothing else. Then I can start playing new titles again. This GTX 780 does fine with older games but it's not enough for new games at 1440p.

I'd consider FO4 if they seriously revamp the combat system so VATS isn't the only reliable shooting method, if you can call it that, since it's really insta kill auto targeting.

I'm holding out for Pascal myself. Mo powa is nice and all, but I like how they're also talking quicker coms between CPU and GPU with NVLink, effectively same result as uni mem.

It's high time PC made full use of tech rather than sitting behind Pci Ex bottlenecks. It's going to help a lot going forward with higher res displays. That and DDR4, as well as Dx12 resulting in LOADS more draw calls, ought to make 2016 one of the best years to upgrade.

Not sure how soon I'll be considering a higher res display. It'll probably depend on how much longer my 1080p one lasts, and what the prices are going forward. Ideally I'd like it to be one that supports one of the variable syncing techs. Preferably Free Sync, with Nvidia jumping on board. They're going to have to come out with lower minimum refresh displays to handle it without problems though.

I'd heard about the steam sale, so I've been checking it every day just in case they were a day off.

On my wishlist I have:
Homeworld
Grim Fandango
Cities skyline (I think)
Ori forest thingamawhatsit
Don't starve together

Although I'd probably try this war of mine if it was in there.
And if I can get Wolfenstein without the ridiculous "Du lebst in Deutschland, du wirdest dass im Deutsch spielen." option, I'll pick that up as well. I understand them censoring the swastikas, but if I wanted to listen to dubbed dialogue I'd own a TV.

On the controller thing.
I have back issues, so I really like the option of playing standing up with a controller (sometime on a balance board 😀) when I feel I can't do the sitting required for the keyboard+mouse anymore. I have a Xbox360 controller.
I suck so badly at everything I do with that thing though.

I think we're all forgetting about SUPER HOT, which is meant to be here this month. Been following this game since it's prototype. Hyped much.

Oh I'm well aware of that game and have already seen trailers of it. I just can't get into what looks to be a very shallow concept of projectile dodging via time manipulation. That and I don't care for the way they do the graphics. Just seems like an overly simple game that would get boring real quick.

As the saying goes, one man's pleasure is another man's poison. Nothing personal, it's just not for everyone.

So I've picked up This War Of Mine and the Metro 2033 and Last Light Redux versions in the Steam sale so far. This War Of Mine may go lower as it wasn't a flash sale but I got it for $10 instead of the $20 it normally is and I don't mind supporting indie developers a bit. The Metro games are $10 for both.

Yeah, I already owned them both but $10 for the both of the remasters is worth it. They should look great at 1440p.

For $10 it was worth finding out for myself. Not even going to install much of anything right now though with Windows 10 coming so soon and then I'm going to upgrade to Skylake.

I am about 3 hours into This War of Mine and it's every bit as good and sad and depressing as I thought it would be. I killed a priest on accident and then had to rob an old couple so my people could eat.......Stupid game makes State of Decay look morally ambiguous.

Wow. I don't think I'll ever be able to play that game.
I heard a lot about 'This War of Mine'. Too depressing for my taste. I always try to be the good guy in video games that allow that, but this looks like something I wouldn't last even for an hour, without making sacrifices.

One down!
And I picked up those Metro games.

So if this is true my head might just explode.

New Fallout, new Mass Effect and new Deus Ex all in the same year.

New release AAA titles don't usually go on sale for very much off retail. If you can get it for $23 I would say go for it. Well assuming you want to try it with a GTX 750 Ti. I'm not sure how well it would run with that card.

It's a physical copy and my optical drive is dead. I'm going to have to change that before buying. 🙁

I'm only gonna be running the game at 1366x768. I'm certain it'll run good if I turn down some graphics settings.

Unlikely that all three will be released this year, don't you think? One of them is bound to get delayed to 2016.

I think you could run GTA V fine at that resolution and slightly lowered settings. Hopefully optical drives are as cheap for you there as they are here in the US. I've been buying the same Asus DVD burner for at least 5 years and it's always under $20.

Man I hope they all get year end releases. I saw somewhere Deus Ex is confirmed for a December release. Mass Effect 4 and Fallout 4 will hopefully get release dates around the same time. That would probably last me all of 2016!

I already played GTA V, and it ran pretty well for me. I could run at a mixed of High and Very High settings.
Optical drives are available at prices you mention. $20 or less. I should buy one, though I doubt I would be using it. My current drive (the one that is dead) didn't get used for a year. I bought it back in May 2011 I think.

I'm currently replaying Deus Ex: Human Revolution since Mankind Divided has been announced. Like I said, I didn't get to finish this game due to an HDD failure and me losing all my save files. But I'm hoping I can finish it this time.

I would like a end 2015 release too, for all three of them. I'm not too hyped for Mass effect 4 though. The other two, I'm really looking forward to it.

The Mass Effect games might be my all time favorites. It's hard to say between Mass Effect ( 1,2 and 3), Fallout ( 3 and New Vegas ) and The Elder Scrolls ( Morrowwind, Oblivion and Skyrim ) games. Deus Ex is right there at the top of the list as well. I don't even want to guess how many hours I've spent on those games. 😀

You must be a huge fan of RPGs, then. I am too. I love the whole element of having several quests and side quests and being able to do them all in your leisure. I like that there are multiple outcomes based on the decisions you make.

I have only played Mass Effect 2. Never played the original or 3. And that too, I didn't finish the game. Same reason as Deus Ex: HR. HDD failed - lost my saves. I think I was fighting the reapers right before the HDD died. That discouraged me to replay it all over again. I'll install it again and play it later on. I doubt when that will be though..
