I wont buy it as soon as it comes out. Btw, not planning to build it right now. maybe 3rd-4th quarter this year.

I am just very attracted by the low power consumption. I currently have a laptop which is quite noisy when gaming. That inspired me to plan a silent build, which i soon can build hopefully :)
btw, not going for something like the "OMG - 880TIboostglhghz edition" but something with more ram than a 770, lower power consumption and similar performance and price.

I'm wondering if I should just get the 760 or 770 now and just Trade Up via EVGA's program if it the 800 series GPUs come out within 3 months. Based on release history, the desktop GPUs usually come out within a month of the mobile GPUs. Time will tell.

even on the new 800M only GM107 is the new part (860M, 850M, 840M). higher than that still kepler based. also when it comes to new node transition nvidia usually comes after AMD. it has been proven that coming late after AMD did not really pose much threat to nvidia.

yeah you might, but then only got the 90days, keep that in mind, but that might just do it.
Still its true that Nvidia tends to release after AMD to keep their strongest horses (like the 690 or 780ti) locked up
as a supershocker till late amd releases of a series of gpus.

so a good evga 770 just might serve you well, and if you build the rig in late 2014 the stepup program might just work fine, since i personally think that the real mean parts like haswell-e EIGHT core cpus and the higher end Nvidia GPUs will come in early 2015, rather than late2014, but thats just me speculating.

We´ll see, but since you still can play bf on ultra you got plenty of time to think about it 😀

I'm hoping for a release soon, the 8xx mobile chips are out so it's frustrating.

I had an evga 750ti OC for half a day, I'm not sticking with a card that is so much louder than my old gtx 460 even though it's so muh significantly cooler to run and eats *so* much less power 🙁

I'm just left mad that only evga have displayport (for gsync) so I'm left hanging waiting for something else with that low power, but less noise.

Maybe this one would work for you

should make a lot less noise.
EDIT: Hmm never mind it seems right now they have an issue with the fans being set too high by default... This is a reply to one of the complaints

"I apologize for any inconvenience. I can confirm that we do have an update available to lower the fan noise for you. Please either visit our forums at forums.evga.com or contact our 24/7 support team at 1-888-881-3842 option 1, or by email at newegg@evga.com so that we can assist you with the update for your card."

So you might want to look into that before returning your card.

4K won't be entering the PC market until there is a single GPU that runs 60fps constant on high end games. I mean 1080p was like "HOLY SHIT!!" but that was a gentler shift since 4K is quadruple that if 1080p. Can't wait until 4K gets a prime spotlight in PC gaming.

Must have been a bad cooler. Most are quiet apparently.

last weekend my current GPU started acting up(no suprise after 5 years). so i started looking at what to buy as a replacement. and for some reasons shops seem to be dumping the prices on the GTX 770. most shops seem to have these sales last till 14-04-2014, or until they run out of stock.. obviously they can't confirm anything about these new prices or why the sales end at 14-04-2014. but it makes me wonder if we might see a 860 or 870 around that day.

That is the card I had, the FTW with ACX cooler, I had the BIOS update too (after checking with the supplier it was ok to flash, as it was official evga they were happy) , hexus tested the bios mod it dropped the db level by *one* and evga said it can't be made any quieter. It still sat at 42% fan.

It's way louder than my gtx 460 which idled with the fans at ~25%, evga dropped the ball on an otherwise excellent card, they used voltage regulated rather than pwm fans. There's was talk on one forum of trying to add a resistor to them but they didn't think it would work because of the type of fans used and I don't want to mod a card. People suggested keplers bios tweaker too, but I haven't seen any success stories posted, so I think I did the right thing returning it, it's just frustrating.

The card went back already the day it was delivered, I'm just at a loss for it's replacement as it was the only displayport 750ti :/

I have to say on NVidia knows the release date. Knowing them we will know when its launching when its available for sale. They tend not to announce things with much advance, because they don't want AMD to counter them.

My personal fear is that NVidia somehow makes their 800 series fantastic for coin mining. I really don't want to see $800-$1000 gtx 880's IMO they need to offer two lines of cards, one that is gimped for coin mining for gamers at a reasonable price, and one that the miners can chase their "free money" pipe dreams like fools with and play 100-200% what the hardware is worth because they are in the midst of an mass hysteria.

Honeslty NVidia's prices are piggish enough given they no longer have any price competition for AMD.

Coins are like the gold rushes of days of old. The people who got in on day 1 have made a fortune, and everybody who follows in in the rush will barely break even, or worse now. I still don't see how earning just bearly more than electricty costs now will ever recoup the cost of that $6000 mining rig.

that Q2 speculation actually was early estimation since early 2012 i think? back then most people expect TSMC 22nm/20nm will be ready for volume production in late 2013. so as usual they speculate the next shrink radeon will hit Q4 2013 or Q1 2014 and will followed by nvidia in late Q1 2014 or Q2 2014.

:sarcastic:lmfao. Like i been saying this whole time. It just wouldn't make since to do the titan Z, Titan black and for companies like evga to be doing 6gb 780's if they were just gonna release the new 20nm stuff a few months after. Im betting on 2015 for the release.

In the beginning of this thread you thought that the high end Maxwell's would come out in the first or second quarter of this year.

I'm the one that said 4th quarter of this year or 1st quarter of next year. lol

which quarter? i bet my money on late Q3 or early Q4 2015 😀

As i see here they have already released 880M (Notebook version), so i guess it wont take long for the final release of PC version. I hope )
