right now there is so much thing unanswered. it could be that that new hardware might not exist until nvidia come up with Pascal. so while maxwell might support DX12 it might not fully support new DX12 feature just how Fermi and Kepler will not support those feature. just look at the new GM107. it is nvidia gpu with maxwell architecture and yet there seems no evidence of new hardware for DX12 exist in the chip though it could change when nvidia come up with high performance maxwell. also DX12 game will not coming out until very late 2015 (i believe this is the earliest expectation for DX12 based games to enter market but if the said games got further delay we might not see it until 2016) and nvidia Pascal is expected to come out sometime in 2016 frame time. so there is no hurry to put that new hardware for GPU that suppose to come out late 2014 or early 2015.

is there DX11.2 games out there yet? AFAIK even BF4 only goes up to DX11.1

I don't know any games that support direct x 11.2 however I can't utilize direct x 11.1 because i don't have windows 8.

Apparently because of direct 11.1 windows 8 users have an advantage in bf4.

The latest article I read stated that because TSMC needed to enable 20 nm fabrication may not be ready for quite some time, the GTX 800 series may be delayed until 2015. It's a shame because based on the power / performance ratio of the GTX 750 / 750 Ti cards, the GTX 880 will beat the living s*** out of the GTX 680.

AFAIK TSMC already starts volume production for 20nm product since january. but that process is only for SoC. this is just my speculation but it is possible current TSMC 28nm already as good as TSMC early 20nm node in terms of efficiency. something interesting to read here:

http://techsoda.com/no-20nm-graphics-amd-nvidia/

This delay is not only due to TMSC in my opinion, building a flagship gpu based on a new manufacturing process and architecture takes time!

Hopefully the memory will be based on GDDR 6 or whatever succeeds GDDR 5, I think this is possible because of the introduction of ddr 4.

The 780 ti already beats the living s*** out of the GTX 680 without a doubt...

well architecture wise nvidia should be ready by now. GM107 proves this. now they need TSMC 20nm to be mature enough before they start mass producing high performance maxwell. but then again we shouldn't be surprise if first gen maxwell (800 series) will use 28nm node and will only use 20nm/16nm on second gen maxwell (900(?) series).

I disagree, Creating a GPU more powerful, reliable and efficient than the GTX 780 ti takes time.

Why do you think the transition from GK 104 to GK 110 took almost a year?

" The GTX 680 was released in May 2012 and the Original Titan was released in February 2013"

i said architecture wise nvidia is ready not saying that the big maxwell is ready. GK104 and GK110 still on the same kepler architecture isn't it? yes refinement took time. even the GK110 used in GTX780 Ti is not the same the one used in GTX780. the original titan comes out in feb 2013 but the pro card based on GK110 has been in the market even since late 2012. and nvidia announce the full spec of GK110 in may 2012 except the final clock. that is almost 2 months after the introduction of GTX680 which means while the process node might not be ready for big K the final design is already done.

Indeed they are ready to sell the basic maxwell architecture chips such as the 750 series GPU's. The GK 110 and GK 104 do have the Kepler architecture in common however so does the GK107.

Yes, I'm aware that the 780 ti is more refined, uses a new revision and is blessed with a fully unlocked gk 110. The pro cards were very expensive and still took many months to be released.

I'm assuming that Nvidia does have a design and possibly prototypes are available for testing and refinement.

Isn't it 20nm/14nm? 16 would be awkward haha

from what i know after 20nm TSMC next process will be 16nm FinFet. for intel and samsung it will be 14nm. but then again i heard it is hard to compare the process tech between foundry since each of them have their own definition on it.

Ahh I was going by half die shrink, still can't wait until 20nm rolls out Q3 (as it seems).

TSMC has start volume production 20nm node for SoC since last january. but it seems they have trouble with high performance node for 20nm that usually used to manufacturer gpu which lead to the latest rumor about high end maxwell will be delayed into 2015 time frame

Oh well, 780ti for me...I guess they will fire out low end Maxwell then keep people waiting untill maybe September 2015 since I am sure the high end Maxwell cards will need to refined at little bit more. Might just wait with my 780ti until Volta and that super sexy stacked Vram!

Ahh bollocks! I guess the 780ti is a solid choice anyway haha.

hhmmm... i don't understand why the spec isn't significantly different than the 780. i don't think that this 880 can do 4k with everything maxed out without lagging, or maybe 1600. i'm using 780 right now and everything works really well for 1080 with everything maxed out. i plan to buy 1600 monitor in the future, but for that, i prefer wait for 790 launched on the market rather than buy a 880. that will be a lot better.

nnngg.. what do u mean with that "stylish" word buddy. hahahahah..

so far it's only speculation. the 'real' 880 could have very different spec. but what really picked my interest were story about no 20nm gpu from both nvidia and AMD. i heard that maxwell will be on 28nm while AMD might go straight for 16nm FinFet.
