I got a new custom PC build with an RTX 2080 Ti and a i9-9900K

I won't use my PC for working or streaming or anything else, just for gaming, and I'm not very much into immersive single-player games, I play more online multiplayer games like Call of Duty, Forza and others, but sometimes I do like playing single-player games like when it comes out, Cyberpunk 2077.

I'm not sure about getting a 1440p 144hz monitor, or an ultrawide, or any other option like a 4K monitor.

Depends on your preference honestly. I'd personally get a 1440p, 144hz monitor. I still use the Predator XB271HU. Once you get 1440p, you won't ever want to play at 1080p again. 4K is nice, but if you play multiplayer, higher frame rates will help you more, and 1440p is definitely the sweet spot for that.

Depends what you normally use your monitor(s) for.
Do you currently run a dual monitor setup and really enjoy it I would say go for a super ultrawide 32:9 5120x1440p (120hz).

If you only use a single monitor the 21:9 ratio monitors deliver some of the best options of the market.

Personally I can't go for a single monitor all the time, so I use a ultrawide 32:9 and split it into either 2 x 16:9 screens side by side with no bezels, or a 21:9 beside a 11:9. Then when I want to immerse myself in games I go 32:9 (if the game supports it). And if the game doesn't support it... well then you just go for one of the other setups.

@alex-dk I only use a single monitor.

I've never tried ultrawide before, but a lot of people say ultrawide is the best. Currently, with my budget, I've got three options:

Get now an ultrawide 1080p 60hz monitor for about 220€, wait to have more money and get a 16:9 1440p 144hz, or wait even more and get an ultrawide 1440p 144hz for example.

Consider carefully your monitor purchase.
Monitors tend to last a long time.
My first thought is that you are going really cheap considering the top of the line processor and graphics card.

One of the tradeoffs you will need to make is the type of panel.
You get better image quality and a wider 178/178 viewing angle with a IPS type panel. They tend to be more expensive.
The tn type panels are cheaper, faster, but suffer by comparison in image quality.

It is really best if you can see some of your candidates in person.

Ok, so I think I'm gonna get the Aorus AD27QD, a 27 inches, 1440p 144hz 1ms gaming monitor, with a unique feature called ANC (Active Noise Cancelling), you can check what it is at Linus Tech Tips YouTube channel, if you are interested.

Thank you for your help.
