Hi all,
I was just wondering if a motherboard that is incompatible with its cpu would post. I have an old dell motherboard and I replaced to cpu to a 3200g from a 1400. Would this make it post? I already tested the ram and power supply and they both work. Also would incompatible ram do the same thing.
Thanks.

The problem could be that both of them are different RAM sticks, and by different I mean that they did not come in the same kit together.
Usually kits are tested together to make sure they are compatible together.
Well you are not losing anything, if it didn't work you'll probably have to buy another RAM stick that is pretty much identical to the other one.

Well yes, you just need a motherboard pretty much.
But it is also recommended to have a set of matched RAM's instead of mixing two different RAM sticks together.
That would also generate more issues.
