Simply "Defer Updates" didn't cut it for me. By the way mine is Win10 Pro.
First off you need to go into your Device Manager(right click on the Windows symbol) and then once there, double click on the device that's being wrongly updated by Win10(graphics card in my case), then you click on the "Details" tab and pick from the drop-down list named "Property" the "Hardware Ids". Right click on the first line and copy it.
Now what I did was I typed "gpedit.msc" on Run and then under "Local Computer Policy" -->"Computer Configuration"-->"Administrative Templates"-->"System"-->Device Installation"-->"Device Installation Restrictions"
When there, I doubled clicked on "Prevent installations of devices that match any of these devices IDs", clicked on "Enable" and then under Options clicked on "Show", then I pasted the ID I got from Device Manager on there. That's it!
PS: You might want to disable "Prevent installation of devices not described by other policy settings", I did it.
So far do good, but I guess I'll have to wait until the next update to find out whether it's worked or not ;-)
OK...thats for updates to a specific device, not Windows updates in general.
Whole different thing.
For general updating I still don't know what to do but "Defer Updates" sure doesn't do it and it seems to be the only "solution" so far.
