I did have start up problems and a fresh start normally did result in a clean boot, but I had windows 10 for 6 months prior to the problems starting and that only happened after I changed the hardware and a lot of software so I blame myself for the problems I had, but if it happens again I may shut fast boot off.

I am hoping it doesn't as my hardware new enough that it shouldn't have issues like that.

Oh btw, I got redirected to a non-local, English speaking helpdesk when calling the slui.exe phone number. I don't know if you have the choice during business hours, but I called after and it was the only option (which suits me just fine).
So if there's other people out there needing to use that: there is an English option, although possible only outside of business hours.

Version 1511 is the best so far. I love the new personalization options in the Colors options.
The installation was a lot faster than the previous versions which is also great. I can't wait till the next official version.

Had only 1 minor hiccup with the upgrade from 7 to 10, & it wasn't even an issue with Windows 10 per se.

The HP ProBrook 4530S comes with some pre-installed HP software, including some security software (i.e. hard drive encryption options, biometric app for the models with the fingerprint reader, etc.). The one app wasn't compatible with Windows 10, according to the upgrade app, so I went to uninstall it...only to be told that it needed 2 other HP apps uninstalled before it could uninstall, & those needed 2 or 3 other apps uninstalled before they could be uninstalled.

It ended up adding about a half hour onto the upgrade time, but HP's software was the only problem I ran into. On my desktop, it ran even smoother (custom-built, so no pre-installed HP software gumming up the works).

Build 1511 is indeed the best build so far. BUT, I've noticed it's slightly less reliable than the previous build. All of my windows 10 systems that run 1511 builds are having slight hiccups every now and then while the previous build didn't have any hiccups.

really? I am a game fun, maybe this is suitable for me.

You can always try it and find out, but the thing I've learned about Windows 10 is that there's a very big difference between "Windows 10 is meant to/should be..." and "Windows 10 is/does..."

I installed it on a Laptop I seldom use to play around with. The Installation went smooth enough. I had very little on that laptop as I had just Upgraded it from Vista 32 bit to Windows 64 bit last year. What little I had in there, was kept and was there after installation. Some of the stuff had to be updated after installation, but no problem. Once it was up and running, I quickly decided I did NOT like it. That Stinking Metro UI in the Start menu was a deal breaker for me. I messed around a bit, got frustrated trying to find stuff. I went back online and found something called Classic Shell. Installed that, now it is pretty close to Windows 7 on the start menu and much better. It does have features that I like. They have gone to DX12 and they have Dumped IE in favor of a new browser. Will play with it and see what is what.

Well, they aren't terrible problems so to speak. Rather, every now and then I'll get glitches like the right click not working, battery icon on the taskbar doesn't work and other small things.

On one of my laptops, I keep having to have windows reset the Wi Fi adaptor.
my keyboards can't keep up with the fast paceof windows 10 typing.is it just me or are others having the same problem? this morning without warning, when Ilogged into the desktop of my main Desk Top pc, I saw this weird background of an escalator in various shades of green.i thought my pc had had nervous video breakdown, until I saw the multiple choices at the top of the screen. when I picked one, a different background appeared.I made a chocie, then the 3rd background which I liked appeared, and I picked it. then I got a message, from Microsoft, thanking me for my feedback, and saying that changes in the choice of backgrounds was coming soon.
someone on this forum said that after 30 days on windows 10,that the old windows on our pc would be deleted.Well 6 months have passed ,and all my pcs are still showing the old windows in their directory.
on this laptop,i am afraid to delete the Old Windows, for fear some of my programs will be deleted. am I wrong to tink this?

Windows.old has nothing to do with the applications you are currently using.

thanks for your helpful reply.

I am not that person but yes, it can, if you leave you computer in hibernate or sleep mode, it will wake it up at 3.30 as that is the default time it chooses to restart PC to load an update.

That waking at 3.30 am thing is dumb, it might make sense if all computers were set to hibernate or sleep but if you don't use the function, it will wait 3 days and force a shutdown cause you never had PC on at 3.30 am to run update. I am proactive and look for updates so I can run them right away, but I shouldn't have to. At least it uses notifications to tell you it needs to restart now... too bad if you have those turned off.

You can remove Windows.old with disk cleanup. It is an easy way to deal with it.

Right click your drive(in Computer) and select properties.
Select Disk Cleanup
Select Cleanup system file.
Select what you want to remove and hit OK.

You i will not be able to roll back to your old version/build of Window after this has been done.

I would guess Windows can wake up from sleep(as it always could). I have NEVER had Windows 10 wake up from actually being fully powered down.

Windows 10 has a hybrid sleep that combines hibernate and sleep(so the system writes hibernate data and enters normal suspend to ram). This gives it the ability to survive a power out(if you leave he feature alone). I am sure Windows 8 did something similar. When in suspend to ram, Windows can wake the system as needed(get updates, ect)

Additionally:
"New updates have been installed. A Restart is scheduled for xx:xx"

Which will happen if the system is in anything but a fully powered off state, or unless you change that time. If you just leave it to its own devices...that's what it will do.

I kill Sleep/Hibernate mainly to save writes and space on my SSD but because it causes more issues than it solves anyways. Plus UEFI booting plus SSDs, even SATA 6Gbps ones, is so fast it is almost the same as the PC being in sleep/hibernate

that is a relief. thanks much USAFRet. you have come to my rescue again.

I was advised by my colleagues to avoid windows 8 and Windows 8.1because both had bugs in them.
I am glad you like windows 10. I like it too, although I loved windows 7. it was so easy to get around in.i am planning on keeping one of my desktops with windows 7.main reson is my all in One printer won't work with windows 10.
