The ads on TV have gotten so invasive that I hardly watch anything besides the occasional Stargate-SG1.

I mean, first there were ads that lasted 30 seconds, then a minute, then several minutes, then the ads breaks increased in frequency, now the ads sometimes last a minute longer than the actual show! 6 minutes of ads, 5 minutes of show, 6 minutes of ads etc... Then they started covering the credits with ads, so that the credits are relegated to a tiny sidebar. THEN they really stepped over the line and started having ads INSIDE the show in addition to all the above!
You probably have seen Homer Simpson suddenly fill half (or more) of the screen in the middle of some moving or exciting part of the show etc...

And to add insult to injury, do we REALLY need 80% of the ad time I have just described, to be filled with ads for Enzyte and other "vanity" drugs!!! (Enzyte, by the way, is in trouble and being sued for false advertising -since studies have shown it is nothing more than a placebo)

Then, just look at Tom's Hardware etc. The only way I can even stand to read most sites is to block the ad sites in my firewall and turn off the EVIL Flash crap by disabling the Flash object completely. In fact, just now in the "Email all replies to my real email address" option below (as I'm typing this to post), the "email address" part is one of those dreaded green links, and just now as I moved the mouse the browser thought I got within 100 pixels of it and made that annoying pop-up text come up and it covered this very text I am now trying to write, and when I tried to click to position my cursor in my text, the poop-up covered it suddenly and caused me to be sent to some STINKING AD SITE!!!

In movie theaters, they have now started advertising TV commercials for 30 minutes before the movie itself.

When I play a DVD it trys to force me to watch all the ads first and says "Operation prohibited by disk" if I try to go strait to the menu or even if I try to press "stop" for crying out loud!! -on just about every movie! ON MY DISC! ON MY DVD PLAYER! IN MY HOME! (Disney is especially bad). Enough is enough DAMMIT!! Oh well... DVD hacking software here I come! Yeeehaaa!

All the above forms of media are suffering revenue-wise -advertisers included. Gosh I wonder why??? <---Sarcasm

Now these psychopathic greed-hounds are going to defile and destroy the revenue and FUN of the last type of media they have yet to fully saturate... Games...

The new advertiser fad/mantra seems to be "Ads inside" rather than outside. This, of course, horribly interferes with a product.
On TV it's annoying enough to make me stop watching.
On the web, it's annoying enough to make me stop browsing.

But in a GAME THAT I HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT WITH MY OWN MONEY, it is absolutely UNACEPTABLE!

Game designers, and players alike, should completely reject this idea.

I don't believe for a minute -after all they have done as I described above- that they will only use ads on billboards in racing games and other places where it makes sense. They have already shown that they have NO restraint.

If they can get away with it, they will do it.

I wonder how long it will be before ads completely bankrupt all forms of media through simply driving everyone away/insane.

This might not be relevant, but I often hire my cock out as a billboard, given its massive girth. Bloody commercialism.

Never, I suspect, as people still like a free meal. Though the battle against ads will be an interesting one.

We should all go out and buy TiVos or something...

The one good part about games is that they can always be patched. I imagine that how some no-cd patches come with a few hotfixes, we'll also start to see people removing ads and stuff.

And there's always the boycott option.

You know, if we really wanted to, with the internet's vast power, we could unite everyone against things like gaming ads and Windows Vista and other evil entities threatening us.

But you have to do it before it gets there. Cable TV was originally the ad free telivision. Now we've got like 3 layers of ads.

i just ignore the ads

-I'm sorry, but the UN must be firm with you. Let me in, or else.
-Or else what?
-Or else we will be very angry with you... and we will write you a letter, telling you how angry we are.
