Question Fan randomly maxed out and now cpus are overheating

I have a Samsung NP730QDA. It was in my backpack when the fan suddenly kicked on and spun very loudly. As I was taking it out, the fan quieted down and stopped. I don't remember feeling the computer being hot. It still runs and does all the things it used to do, just now the CPUs get extremely hot (up to 90°C with web browsing). The heat is very noticable from the keyboard and localized to where the fan is. The fan still blows but weakly. I haven't been using it since.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what could have caused this or what tools would help troubleshoot it? I'd like to have any basic information I could be missing before taking it apart or taking it anywhere.

Thank you for any help!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You might want to disassemble the laptop, disconnect the battery and then press and hold down the power button on your laptop for 30seconds. Reconnect the battery and see if that helps.

Might want to check and see if the laptop is pending a BIOS update. What OS are you working with?
