Forgotten Futures Rules Upgrade

Over the last couple of months I've been updating the Forgotten Futures
rules - not changing the way they work, apart from some trivial word
changes, just cleaning up the HTML and making things look nicer,
reorganising, adding some more appendices, etc.

I've put the revised version on line as

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/forgottenfutures/test/rules.htm

Or as a zip file

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/forgottenfutures/test/rules.zip

For the moment the links to the rules on my web sites point to the old
version, I want to be sure there are no problems before this becomes the
only on-line version.

At the moment the main rules are the only thing updated; the summary
rules, tables, etc. are still in their original form, waiting for me to
sort them out.

What's different?

- I think that the presentation is considerably better, and I've fixed a
lot of problems with grammar, spelling, etc.
- I've incorporated the melodrama rules from FF VI, magic from FF VIII,
some of the real world stuff from various worldbooks, and gadgets and
other fun stuff from most of them.
- There are a lot more links to on-line resources etc.
- It's illustrated.

The down-side of this is that it's a bigger file, about a megabyte by
the time all the illustrations are downloaded, 880k as a zip file.

What I need now is for people to look through, preferably using as many
different computers and web browsers as possible, and see if they can
find any problems such as formatting that doesn't work properly, broken
tables, links, etc. I've been working mostly in Opera and checking
occasionally in IE6 and Firefox, but only on a PC. Mac, Linux and other
users would be helpful.

Found a couple of problems, so they were uploaded again about 15 minutes
ago - many apologies to anyone who has already downloaded them. The
summary rules are also changed now.

It looks great Marcus, I'm using Safari on the Mac. My only complaint is
that it is loooooong. It would be nice if it was broken up into separate
files for each "chapter".

Having said that, the tables you use come out looking fine, they nest OK
and don't pull any strange tricks.

Keep up the good work!

That's a good point, it does push the file size up a little more but it
might be more user friendly. Makes searching a lot more difficult
though, which is why I've been reluctant to do it. I really don't want
to have to write a proper index.

If I did that I think that the natural way to do it would be, as you
say, by chapter. Say:

Contents, Introduction and "about the game" stuff
Characters and Rules
Role Playing
Running Adventures
Game Worlds and The Real World (or possibly separate chapters)
Each of the appendices as a separate chapter.

Possibly a rudimentary index, but I really can't say I _want_ to do it;
is there any software that can be used to make one?

Glad it works on a Mac, I'm probably getting an iBook as my next laptop.
