I had to downgrade my driver from the lastest version to one of the earliest ones to fix a horrendous graphics issue in Forza Horizon 3 but now every game with OpenGL or Vulkan has issues with HDR.

For example it turns off hdr when switching to another program or when closing the game, every time. This wasn't an issue on the newest driver, but then I would have the issue with Forza Horizon 3.

I tried the driver versions in-between the newest and earliest but they either had one problem or the other, I saw mostly the issue with Forza Horizon 3.

AMD has known about this issue on Forza Horizon 3 for some years but it doesn't look like anythings gonna change.

My GPU is an... AMD RX 6950XT
I'm on the latest version of Windows 11 24H2

Maybe replacing the vulkan and opengl part of the drivers on my current driver with the ones from newer drivers would fix everything, but I don't know how. Replacing them on the hard drive from a portable os on usb could work, does anyone know if this works?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Make and model of your motherboard? BIOS version for said motherboard?

Just curious, did you use DDU in order to perform your driver rollback to a prior version? If not, use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(Intel, Nvidia and AMD) in Safe Mode, then manually install the driver you've found to be the fix for Forza Horizon 3 sourced from AMD's support site in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Hello!

Motherboard idk its asus 790 something and bios is stock. Should probably not matter. The issue is that none of the drivers for my amd gpu available have both of the problems fixed. So I need to combine 2 of the drivers if possible (which it seems to be) by replacing open cl and the vlk files in system32 etc.

I tried using the method with the usb I described earlier to replace the open cl files and now opengl works with hdr while technically still on an earlier version, it was a huge success, and Forza Horizon 3 still works without graphical issues.
However Vulkan still crashes so I'm gonna try to replace amdvlk it with some other version of the drivers files and see if that works as well.

The problem with Forza Horizon 3 graphics or HDR with Vulkan & OpenGL in other games is 100% related to the drivers and amd wont fix it, its been a known problem in forza for years. Both of them can be fixed on different versions but no drivers have both problems fixed. So that's why I need to replace Open_CL & amdvlk to fix it while Forza Horizon 3 I think, uses a different backend, which I want to keep.
