Alright everyone - crazy plan time and I need someone to talk me out of it.

I am looking at a gaming laptop for sale - Alienware 15 with a 980m, 4k touch display, all the bells and whistles of its day.

Great laptop, amazing price. Only problem is the screen has a crack in it so the touch doesn't work. Not a huge deal.

The question that I have is, would it be possible to fill/repair the crack with glass resin so that it doesn't get any worse? Like, the stuff that you would use for automotive windshield repairs. Right now I don't see why this wouldn't work since the crack is only glass deep?

As always, thanks for everyone's input!

Solution
Aside from unknown chemical reactions with the various coatings, it might work. Could also seep in deeper and ruin something vital. But if the damage is minor enough, just leave it. Easier to find a replacement LCD panel, even a non-touch one.

Not that I would want a 4K panel paired with a 980m, seems a little weak. But if you run it into 1080 all the time anyway...just an odd pairing. I know it was somewhat popular at the time to say, look a 4K laptop, but from a gaming perspective it never really made sense, still kind of doesn't. Most people want high refresh over high resolution.
