Hello modding community,

I have a Dell Precision T3500 with a Xeon X5650 and the lower end aluminium heat sink without the copper heat pipes. My CPU is running hot and I will change the thermal paste however I have a Arctic F8 80mm fan on the back which does nothing to lower the temps of the CPU or GPU. I have decided to opt for a small mod of adding that same fan on to the back of the heatsink. But everywhere that people have tried this, they have used the copper pipe better version of the heatsink which I would like to avoid buying. Have you guys got any idea on how to attach it? I would avoid superglue or taping it to the blue memory housing as they both seem risky and I want a safe and working system. I was thinking of using zip ties however is there any better method? Here is a picture of the heatsink I have:

The x series is a hot series of processors and the only way you're going to be able to keep your existing heatsink is to not only add a fan but floor it. I've successfully added 95w cpus to Dell 65w heatsinks using this method, but for only $15 to upgrade to the proper heatsink that will allow you to run without flooring the fans, I would go that route instead.

Of he could just buy the Dell OEM upgrade I listed ;) Afterall that was what it was made to do and it's a far cry cheaper than what I paid when the T3500 was new and your not adding additional noise.
