Hello everyone, I had this laptop for the last 5 years and it was functioning flawlessly, till about 5 months ago when for some unknown reason it started lagging.

In gaming, I never experienced any lag except for thermal throttling which only occurs on high-end AAA games and not on other games that were made a few years ago, which to me sounds like my thermal paste is doing its job (I replaced it about 3 months ago), but the lag has been getting worse that even though my temps barely reached 80 Degrees Celcius, one of the games I was playing crashed which never happened before.

Whereas any basic tasks like making Word documents along with Grammarly, using Chrome and binge-watching YouTube, or even using Discord, it seems to lag a lot and recently it has been getting worse and worse with Microsoft Word and Discord crashing (It just freezes so I can't tell what error it even displays).

My laptop details are as follows:
ASUS TUF FX705DT (2019)
Ryzen 7 3750H
Nvidia Geforce GTX1650 Mobile
16GB DDR4 240MHz RAM SODIMM (Dual Channel)
256GB SSD and 1TB HDD 7200RPM (I store one game at a time on the SSD and use the HDD primarily for my game recordings and project settings as I make content on YouTube and use Davinci Resolve which also lags horribly in these recent times)
Windows 11 Home 64-Bit

I tried a few methods such as doing SFC and DISM (Which showed that I had an error and quickly resolved it, now it doesn't show any but the lag still continues), I uninstalled any bloatware including unnecessary antivirus apps and only stick to Windows Defender, apart from that I couldn't find any other reason why it's happening when people with older laptops can do the same without any issues.

Would like to hear from you guys if you have a solution or would like to ask more about my device, thanks in advance.

may be there is issue with the ram or battery some laptops take their electricity from battery and not directly if you use outlet, how many hours daily you use it? when you leave it open and sleep, it can affect life cycle and decrease performance

Hello, so I don't carry my laptop that often outside since it's summer vacation and most of my work happens at home. So on average, I use my laptop for 10-12 hours and all those hours are plugged in, except for maybe an hour or two where I would unplug it and just sit in a different place just for a change of environment for myself so that's the only few hours when I leave it unplugged, rest all times it remains plugged in.

I do turn it off whenever I go take a nap or go outside or go back to sleep at night, basically if I don't find use of my laptop at any particular time, I turn it off till I need it the next time.

When was the last time it got a good cleaning?
5 years is a long time for a laptop without a good disassemble and cleaning.
Hello, So yes I did mention this in the post but I guess I didn't elaborate on it so it's okay.

I recently changed my thermal paste about 3 months ago (the issue persisted before that as well so I assumed that the thermals could have been the issue) so along with that I did some cleaning as well.

As for maintenance I open and clean the insides of my laptop once a year and replace my thermal paste once every two years or whenever I notice more thermal throttling than usual, which is what many YouTubers suggested so I was sticking to that maintenance since the time I bought my laptop.

As for how I clean it I just open the laptop and dust it off using a mini blower, if I replace the paste then a deeper cleaning of the copper pipe like rubbing it with isopropyl alcohol is what I would do on a normal basis.

Well i see that its quite hard to determine why its happening, so I decided to do some tests and keep Task Manager open, it turns out my cpu keeps spiking up and averaging between 50% to 100% (If i keep discord, word and chrome open and running simultaneously, as for the ram its hard stuck at 65% usage, regardless of what im doing in my laptop, so is there any reasons why this may be happening or is it signs that my laptop is becoming older?
