I am based in India, hence have way limited options to choose from vs USA/Canada .

Please recommend which of these will perform better for a student getting started & future enthusiast in the making 😛

  1. Asus Tuf fx505 Vs Asus Tuf fx504?
  2. With Intel i5 8300h, 1050ti? Or
  3. AMD Ryzen 5 3550h, 1650?

The Asus FX505 is the better laptop. It's more powerful, has a newer design and is also lighter.

GTX 1650 is the successor to the GTX 1050 Ti and 20 to 30% faster. So, definitely the better choice, but if possible, go for the 512 GB SSD model.

Otherwise, get the cheaper 1 TB model and later upgrade with a fast 250 GB NVMe drive.

thanks for the great suggestion .

I did visit a store and saw both with my own eyes . Fx505 is indeed more sleek , better bezels .

What I also noticed was Fx505 Intel version uses sata M.2 and not Nvme M.2 , hence will be slower . Also Fx505 doesn't have WiFi AC (2x2) , yet Fx504 has both of the same . So though Fx504 looks kinda fat , performance wise seems much better option to me .. so FX504 for the WIN on Intel's side

Now when we come to Fx505 AMD side , FX505 does have NVME M.2 , so that's Solid ! However it doesnt have WIFi (2x2) either ,which I do think is not a Huge problem .

so now final comparison between FX504 Intel vs FX505 AMD ( yes to 512 Nvme 😛 ) ,

I wonder if AMD Ryzen will not throttle way before it can even reach 1050ti level performance let alone 1650 its sporting ? any thoughts ?

Core i5-8300H and Ryzen-5 3550H both are high end processors and GTX 1650 is an entry level GPU. Both can handle it without any problem.

According to Cinebench R15 benchmark, i5-8300H is even faster than the Ryzen-7 3750H but then it's relatively more expensive.

Thanks a ton for your help . I will be buying the laptop today with total clarity :)
