Yes, that might be happening, since C55 is pin compatible with C19. Somebody here has to take care of the BIOS updates so we can see if they upgrade it constantly or not. Somebody please do so since im loggin off right now.

BTW, if this premium board comes with C19, it will still be popular and people will actually buy it, trust me. Some just dont care about C55 or the new 600 series.

I just checked... the current BIOS is still 0401.

Thats bad, but I still have a question, Let say ASUS is now making the 590's come with C55, why did they announce it so early(p5n32 premium) if they knew the change was going to take a long time? and what if they do release it with C55, will they still call it 590? or 680i like DFI?

You go to the ASUS webpage, support section, download section, BIOS section, select the board (p5n32-sli premium) and see whats the actual version of the BIOS of the not-yet released board.

LOL...yeah... but wouldn't you think that's about as reliable as the rest of the info we're getting?? They probably wouldn't get around to updating that information until they are ready to ship the board.

Maybe just wishful thinking on my part! LOL

when the board was known to be released, they had a 0102 bios available which became 0206 I think, then some days after it was announced on the asus page they changed to 0406.

Released to who?? I'm confused....the board hasn't been released...isn't that why we're here?? LOL
With all the bad info we've been getting I really wouldn't put much stock into what is posted on the ASUS website, at least until after the board is released...they do have pretty good support.

Im sorry I made a mistake (I was eating my breakfast so I didnt really see what I wrote hehe) LOL

When the board was know to be released, you know between August, some guy in here found that ASUS had the BIOS file available already and the version was 0102. After some time it became 0206 I think, then when it was ANNOUNCED in the ASUS site, it became 0406.

Now you know what I mean...

Sorry for my mistake, gonna fix my post right now.

... so maybe the 680i will be a different board with a different bios download section on the website, just like all the others.

LOL...yeah... I know what you mean....BUT (there's always a "but" isn't there)... what I'm saying is, If I was Asus, the last thing I would update out there on our company website is info like that...since I'm busy making alst minute changes to the motherboard that everyone is wanting. The website in general is the last thing I'd be worried about when there are so many people out there waiting for my product.

Yeah me too but unfortunately ASUS is not as smart as we are hehe :)

I have a problem in case they release the premium board with C55, they will call it 590 anyways right? Grrrr, I now want ASUS to make a board called 600 series cuz now I dont like the numbers 5-9-0

lol wow still not out huh? Good thing I cancelled and got my p5w instead. 3.6ghz is gonna be good for awhile. From the looks of things, it might be just better to wait a bit for DFI's 680i instead. Unless ofcourse Asus surprises us with c55 in the 590. All info still points towards c19 though. I still don't understand why Asus would release an inferior product when p5b/p5w dances around it laughing. This board will still only be good if someone doesn't OC and want to be a little bit more future proof with the physics/2x 16 lane pci-e.

I sure hope it doesn't dissappoint for those who waited so long for this :?

you could run sli with 975 boards, with "unofficial" drivers. There is a chance that Intel will support SLI officially in the future, but as of now your only "official" support is on the 590. choice is up to you, but your options are not as limited as you think.

Thanks Kaoz....but I want to be able to upgrade down the road to a quad ( I hope) after they are out for a year...plus...I am no over clocker nor would I be comfortable trying to install "Unofficail Drivers". LOL

I just want a pretty fast machine so I can come home after work and KILL KILL KILL!! LOL or SNIPE SNIPE SNIPE!! I'm a big COD and COD2 player!

Hehe Yeah I have many games which im waiting to install on my C2D pc cuz my PIII just cannot play them hehe.

BTW, if you want SLI with Intel, you can get a 570 but they SUCK D...

:?: Who told you the 590 works with Kentsfield? As far as I know it doesn't

http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2848

It appears that most Intel 965 and many Intel 975 boards will support the upcoming quad core Kentsfield with just a BIOS upgrade. Existing motherboards based on other chipsets did not make any of the Kentsfield compatibility lists provided by the motherboard manufacturers.

and yes p5w/p5b supports Quad....

unless the FSB can OC over to 333 easily and stable, you can forget about quad core on the 590. If it comes with C19 thats a big no, if it's c55...maaaaybe....

I didnt like how you said that maaaaaaaaybeeeeeee

cuz is a yes :)

Ah yes you are correct, a little searching provides:

http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4096

We have received some hints from a motherboard engineer who has been testing out overclocking capabilities of the soon-to-be in market ATi RD600 chipset motherboard and NVIDIA C55 chipset motherboard for the Intel platform. RD600 seems capable of hitting 520MHz FSB with the right voltage adjustments, while the new generation NVIDIA MCP C55 lags slightly behind at 510MHz FSB. Both seem to be doing good, and I'm excited just waiting for these boards!

The questions still remains though. Will Asus screw their first-adaptor customers over by throwing the c19 in 1st? And notice in the list Asus provided for Kentsfield compatability, no nVidia chipset made the cut, c55 or not.

Well I doubt we will hear anything till around Wednesday. That seems to be the new date. Won't stop me from looking though. Today would be great. That way I can get it before the weekend!

I saw a few blurbs for the board release between now and the 10th.

One site had a release date for sale on 10/10.

Also saw that the 570 and 590 and going bye bye and the 600 series was replacing them.

Stand by to be amazed. hehe
