[SOLVED] Upgrading to i7 9700k & RTX 2070 – decent enough? Will I need PSU upgrade too?

Hi all,

I'm hoping to upgrade my CPU and GPU soon, to an i7 9700k & RTX 2070 (Super 8GB), going from what I currently have:

Intel i5 4690k
GeForce GTX 1060 3GB

I'm also going to upgrade from 8GB of RAM to 16GB.

Will this be enough to max out games like Red Dead Redemption 2 on 1080p and at least 60fps? I'd just love some insight as to whether these parts are a decent upgrade and if I'm getting the most bang for my buck.

Also, will I require a PSU upgrade with these parts? I currently have a XFX ATX 550W but it's pretty old now (5+ years).

Any clarification and advice would be super!

Since you are planning such an extensive upgrade, it would be wise to upgrade your PSU as well.

Would you recommend anything higher than 550W? Or should I just stick to my current wattage and get a newer unit?

I would recommend giving yourself some headroom, in the event you want to upgrade more in the future. Something in the 750-850w range.
