Question Used GTX 970 or Sapphire RX 580 4GB as GTX 750 Ti upgrade?

Hey, new to the forum.

I've been planning on upgrading from my ageing GTX 750 Ti for a while now and finally decided now was the time.
I'm a little strapped for cash so decided to limit my cost to £100 or less and had a look at some local second hand cards.
Currently there's an ASUS GTX 970 for £72 just down the road, which is very tempting. However there's also a new in box Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 580 4GB for a bit more at £100 a little further away.
Not looking to play too many brand new games, only really the Wither 3, the ESVI when it comes out and some modded Skyrim Special Edition.
Both cards are similar in performance but I'm a little stuck on deciding, the 970 is cheaper however the 580 is a little newer.
Any help would be appreciated.

IMO - get the RX580. It's newer architecture that will be better optimised for newer applications such as DX12.
Addtionally, if what you say is true, it's also new. You don't necessarily know how well a used card has been looked after.
