[citation][nom]patrond[/nom]AMD forgets one thing: Nvidia is way closer making a CPU replacer with their Fermi. The Fermi has most of the same technology and the abilities that were previously missing. I agree that card gets way too warm and has a way too loud noice under both idle and load. Waiting for Asus to do their job on it.[/citation]
and you "forgets" Nvidia doesn't have an x86 license

Eyefinity!! I just wish I didn't have the hassle of that active DisplayPort adapter. I used to use nVidia but my newest build is dual ATI 5770's with 5 monitors (for programming, not gaming).

Does/will the ATI 58x0 series have some sort of "stereo 3D" mode like the NVidia ones have? - that is the only thing stopping me getting a 5870 right now after reading the reviews of the Fermi cards. Currently running a 9800 GX2 and don't think a 5850 is a faster card (apart from DX11)

You'd need their monitor and glasses (not unlike nVidia's solution) link This comes with glasses and monitor. I feel like I'm selling it here.

Only thing I am unimpressed about is the price. The cards perform well and handle DX11 nicely but... the 470 price is a horrible spot to be at (especially since I got my 5870 for $380) for the performance and the 480 is just too damn much money.
