Question DisplayPort support and Color Calibration on New monitor?

Hi, I want to buy a monitor that says in its specs, it is for a DP 1.2a, and my GPU supports DP1.4.

GPU: rog strix 1060 6g
Cable I can buy: CLUB3D DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3

Will they work together? 😀 The monitor comes with an HDMI by default but I read that DP can better support 144hz.

Edit: Also should I ask for color calibration for an extra 20$ (Datacolor SpyderX Elite)? I find it pretty expensive for what could be an unrecogniseable result.

I'm buying a new monitor from Acer, and I'm wondering if I should ask for color calibration (20$ extra, they say they use spyder x elite)
I'm mostly playing games on my desktop.
Should I pay the extra or is it just not necessary at all?
