Faster storage wouldn't make your downloads go faster. Only faster internet can do that.

Samsung Pro what ? 970/980 ? as compared to which kind of drive ?
Much faster than HDD not as much than SATA SSD, most probably just marginally faster.

uuh. I think I understand this more, so when you try to install gog it's super slow right? https://crystalmark.info/en/software/crystaldiskmark/ Run this test to see what your drive's speed is.
I did it on a kingston a400 and it took maybe a minute or less? I mean it's around 300+ mbps but it isn't the fastest thing in the world.

I'd say both, cause If I'm not mistaken it has to read the data then move it?
