Question i5 3470s fit on this motherboard

I have a motherboard asus P8H61-M LX3 PLUS R2.0 (LGA1155) does the i5-3470s fit?
I already have i3-3220 and will buy i5-3470s in a few days

The socket is physically compatible.

Check with Asus to assure that the IvyBridge is supported, though. You will likely need a BIOS update to accommodate the new processor.

Just call or email their tech support center and ask if the i5-3470s is supported on the P8H61-M LX3 PLUS R2.0 motherboard; and if it will need a BIOS update to make that happen, or not.

If you get a "Yes" to the first part of the question, and a "No" to the second part, you're good to go.

If you get a "Yes" to the first part of the question, and a "Yes" to the second part, you need to do a BIOS update before using the new processor.

If you get a "No" to the first part of the question, don't bother with buying the processor, and start looking for a new motherboard.

Since that processor is not on the CPU Support List for that motherboard (though I don't know why not), it's safe to assume it's not supported.

In addition to not being on the support list(strange why not) the s suffix processors are slower processors designed for low power environments.
I think you could probably do better for an upgrade.
Compare the passmark ratings for some sort of an idea of what you could gain.

At last guys, i5-3470s does fit on a Asus P8H61-M LX3 PLUS R2.0, but I don't know if it will work on non-updated MOBO's because I have updated mine long ago

It wasn't a question of whether or not it would physically fit. It's the same socket so of course, it fits, but same socket does not mean it's supported.
