I want to upgrade my CPU. PCpartpicker.com says I need BIOS ver. 7678v30 for my motherboard to use the new CPU. On my motherboard's website (MSI) I cannot find a BIOS update with those digits.

https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/H67MSE43_B3/support#bios

My current BIOS is E7678IMS V3.2. Am I correct to assume my BIOS of V3.2 is higher than v30, so no update is needed?
I want to change from i5-2500K Sandy Bridge to i7-3770 Ivy Bridge. Thank you for any help!

My specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K @ 3.30 GHz
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1650 Mini ITX OC 4G
Motherboard: MSI H67MS-E43 (B3) (MS-7678), BIOS Ver: E7678IMS V3.2, 1-17-2013.
RAM: 8 GB
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Manufacturer: Magic Micro Computers

Solution
from the page you linked:

AMI BIOS 3.0 2012-06-11 6.18 MB
  • Description:
    - Update BIOS for IvyBridge 22nm CPU.

Your BIOS is 3.2 and newer than the minimum BIOS version required for Ivy Bridge. You can drop in the i7.

Btw, if your PSU is old, replace it. It'll be on it's last legs by now!

Solution
Thank you I was so worried about bricking my PC with a BIOS update! And yes the PSU is the OG so over 10 years old. That is next on the upgrade list, thank you so much!
No worries.

I have a very old SeaSonic that i replaced after 12 years of service. It's not good to let them run that long, even if they deserve a medal for durability. 😉

I changed the thread from type Discussion to type Question.
You will now see a circle with a checkmark to the right of all of the posts.
Select which one you want to be the answer.
If the red "Question" at the top doesn't change, a mod will change it later.
