Why I cant run 4k 60 hertz on my display through my USB type c port? I am limited to 4k @30hz(2k @60hz 1k @60hz) -through HDMI it works just fine though(4k @60hz)!-

I have" LCD monitor with USB-C Dock 279C9/00 | Philips " including "Dell Vostro 5402 · i5-1135G7 · Xe Graphics G7 80 EU · 14.0”, Full HD (1920 x 1080), IPS · 256GB SSD · 8GB DDR4"
btw my monitor have built in dock because of that I am using type c connection(type c to type c) instead of HDMI!
  1. how to know if my type c port on my laptop supports 4k 60hz?
  2. what does type c DP mean? should I get special cable(or adapter) or thunderbolt/type c cable just works fine?
  3. How can I know what is limiting the bandwidth (laptop or cable)?
  4. how can I deactivate the type c connection display -to show only 2 displays instead of 3 in windows settings- (when connecting HDMI + type c to the monitor)?

Do you have the box/bag the cables came in?

As mentioned on

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB-C

These cables are only marked with standard "trident" SuperSpeed USB logo (for Gen 1 cables) or the SuperSpeed+ USB 10 Gbit/s logo (for Gen 2 cables) on both ends.[54] Cable length should be 2.0 m or less for Gen 1 and 1.0 m or less for Gen 2.

We need to make sure your cables came with the SuperSpeed+ USB 10 Gbit/s logo.

Some good news is your laptop comes with a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C which supports up to 10-20 Gigabits per second and more importantly Displayport 1.4 or Displayport 2.0 meaning it should easily be able to do 4k @ 60 hertz.

The monitor and laptop definitely support 4k @ 60 hertz which leaves the cable and or a software configuration error.

First lets try updating the graphics drivers;

Do note that the monitor also has a displayport

Do you know the model of this usb-a hub/dock?

I thought you meant the panel on the back of the monitor at first.

The monitor and the laptop both have a usb type c port.

What's the point of this dock?
it is the panel on the back of the monitor

How to know the bandwidth of my USB type c cable?
Look on the ends of the usb c cables.

You might see an SS logo of some sort.

The logo isn't always there, but if it is there then it is definitely superspeed.

Without a logo it is nearly impossible to tell if the cable is super speed or not.
