I bought a new 4GB 1.5 years ago for my laptop (K55VJ an Ivy-bridge core i7 with HM77) and because of available stocks I got a DDR3L RAM with similar specs with the old ram (Samsung 4GB PC3-12800S-11) that I mixed it with (the old one is DDR3 while new one is DDR3L). After installing it, all was...
I am gaming on my computer and streaming on my laptop to lift some of the stress off of the pc. With how my audio is configured for streaming, I am required to keep OBS running in the background of my gaming pc to transfer my mic and game audio over NDI to my streaming pc, which consumes some...
My Lenovo G50-80 laptop (i3 5005u with R5 M330 2GB model) had 2X4GB RAM modules ("SAMSUNG M471B5173EB0-YK0 DDR3 4 GB" and "Hynix HMT351S6EFR8C-PB DDR3 4 GB"), both worked fine and CPUz was showing 1600MHz and 8GB total. The Hynix RAM was purchased in April.
I had to remove the Hynix 4GB module...
Greetings!
Apologies for the newbie question, but can you go beyond the XMP speed of a RAM stick? For example, if a RAM stick has an XMP speed of 2400MHZ can I go beyond that? In a general sense, it's like "can I overclock the memory?"
Thank you.
Hi everyone :)
I decided that I want to upgrade from 12 GB to 16 GB of ram. I'm not entirely sure what memory speed and what kind of memory my system can maximally support.
It'd be nice if you could tell me what memory I should go for to get the maximum out of my system. Other tips are welcome...

I am currently gaming on an i5-3470 system, and have been for almost the past 8 years. I have only started upgrading it back in October of 2020 by buying a used R9 270x (my previous card was a GT 520 so it was a HUGE step for me). I am now looking for different ways to possibly upgrade my rig...
I have a computer that i play games on and i was wondering if 16gb ddr3 1866mhz is good for 2021. i might upgrade to 32 2133mhz since i'm probably not going to get a new motherboard and ddr4 ram, so could someone tell me if its good? but if its rational just tell me and i'll look into a new...
Hello! So I recently purchased two DDR3 8gb rated at 1600MHz each, I put them both in but my computer is only reading them at 800MHz. It says I have the memory capacity of 16GB, but it’s running low at 800MHz instead of 1600MHz. I’d understand it being 800MHz if I was running 2x4gb at 800MHz a...
Hello everyone!
I have a custom build PC from 2014. i5-4670k OC at 4.3GHz on a MSI z87 G45 motherboard. (4x4) 16GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9 OC at 1866MHz + 32GB of swapping paging partition (I actually really need a big partition). msi 1070 and double monitor 1080p @60. My common use is computer...

Help, i used to have 1 4GB ram in slot 2, now i got 2 2GBs, i want to have all 3 in it, but it seems it only works with 2 in slot 4 and 2

Hello
I have built a "new" system recently and I've got everything to work well. Problemos happened when I wanted to add more ram into my pc.
Currently it has a single 4GB DDR3 ram stick, tho when I add one of the two DDR3-1600Mhz 2GB ones sitting in my house the computer won't post, looked...
OK so my motherboard recently broke so I bought a new one and after about a month my PC starts restarting its self every so often and then eventually stopped displaying to monitors (I got it to give a signal twice randomly but I gave up)
I think it can be only 1 of 2 things either CPU or ram I'm...
So before I give as much context as possible my specs are:
AMD FX8350
ASUS M5A98
GTX 960 (4GB)
8GB of Kingston ddr3 (unsure of clock)
And I also forgot the name of my PSU but it is reputable to say the least
(I'm aware these specs are poor however I never had these problems beforehand)
One...
Hey there, I'm getting ready for Cyberpunk 2077 I've already upgraded my GPU from a 970 to a used 1070 and I'm thinking about doing the same for my CPU. I've also got 8GB of DDR3 ram, and I kind of don't want to buy two whole new sticks to extend the life span of my CPU I'm thinking about...
Will my ddr3 compatible CPU work with ddr4 ram and ddr4 compatible motherboard?
Hi, I'm new to this forum so apologies if I miss anything out.
I have an Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 processor, and on the Intel website it has listed next to memory types: DDR3 and DDR3L 1333/1600 at 1.5V.
I am looking...
Hello. I have 2x4gb 1600Mhz Samsung memory, I was wondering if I could add a pair of 8gb memory clocked at the same speed without running into issues or it would be better if I bought another pair of the same 4gb RAMs I already own? It is really important to me since getting the 8gb pair would...
Dear Anyone.
Just updated my ancient Windows XP computer to 64-bit ancient Windows 7 (spot the hidden dinosaur!)
I know my computer is DDR-3 memory. Right now it's got 3 2-gig sticks in it - that's what it came with when I bought it sometime last century! I want to take advantage of the...
I tried installing 2 sticks of DDR3 memory taken from an AMD AM3+ system on a Gigabyte B85M-HD3 motherboard. Which is an Intel system board of LGA1150 socket and it was working fine prior to this.
The system booted into Windows successfully with each of those modules installed one at a time...

I'm running a Geforce GT 640 in my pc right now. But my friend was nice enough to give me his old MSI N760 2GD5/OC but my power supply is not good enough to run it. Is there a way to run it without buying a new power supply? And if not what's the best one at a reasonable price for my rig...
I have some CPU problems, i asume, because my CPU usage seems to be at 100% nearly all the when i'm playing games and it's taking a toll on my framerate. (I'm mainly refering to CS:GO here, but the same happens with Destiny 2, Warzone, Fortnite, and games where there's a lot happening on the...

I recently bought a 2nd hand AMD R9 270X graphics card, slowly upgrading from a GT 520 (I know).
I realized it requires two 6 pin PCIE cables which my current PSU doesn't have, and is recommended to be used with atleast a 500w PSU. My current PSU is a 450W Thermaltake TT-450PL1NH-1.
My PC's...
I have a ram (Kingston KVR16N11S84 4GB 1600MHz DDR3 CL11) and i want to buy another stick. But i can't find the same model on Amazon. So my question is if i used different Rams(like only model change). So how much performance difference there will be if i used same frequency ram?

Hi everyone. I'm taking care of my uncle's PC, an old prebuilt Lenovo (should be IdeaCentre K430). I'm thinking of a couple of cheap upgrades, one of which would be adding a fourth stick of DDR3 RAM in order to switch to 16GB (4x4GB) full dual channel from 12GB (3X4GB) hybrid mode. Of course RAM...
