Hi,

I have a laptop with bit locker encryption.
I replaced my hard with another non encrypted hard disk and installed fresh windows on it.
Now when plug my encrypted drive via usb3 and tries to bot via it.... bit locker asks for recovery key which i can provide and boot from it.
My questions is... when i shut down my system and unplugs my encrypted drive and after few days plugged it in usb3 port again and trys to bot via encrypted drive, will it ask for recovery key again ?? or will it simply boot.

I have read somewhere that bit locker will ask for recovery key if there is change in mbr,

Regards and thanks in advance.

Hi,

Actually i don't want to try to waste the recovery key in trying to do so... since its an official laptop and we have to go through a cumbersome process to ask for a recovery key again.

Well i did tried and guess what... it doesn't even accept the recovery key for the first time when i boot my hard disk from USB.
I think it will only accept the recovery key on port on which it was installed for the first time? is that so or am i mistaken?

Regards
