Hello, I am getting some boot errors (booting to BIOS, not recognising Windows). I've ran a Short SMART self-test with Samsung Magician and the following errors have come up:

SMART Self-Test,13/08/2024

Model Name,Samsung SSD 870 EVO 1TB

Serial Number,S626NF0R428538Z

Result,Log #1,Option,SHORT

,,Status,Aborted by unknown error ({0}){7}

,,Power on hours,7382

,,Failing LBA,791408

,Log #2,Option,SHORT

,,Status,Aborted by unknown error ({0}){7}

,,Power on hours,7382

,,Failing LBA,791408

Conducting a 'full scan' also comes up with around 15 or so bad 'squares'.

Could this be causing the boot issues? I do have modified setting in the BIOS (overclock ect) but the boot errors persist when switching to optimised defaults. Should I just replace the drive and clone windows over?

Any advice would be welcome :)

Double check the disk with crystal disk info to make sure the drive is bad. I believe you are still within the warranty period for the 870 evo.

Crystal Disk is coming up with a few bad blocks. Other than that I can't see anything sticking out - but I'm not too versed with storage issues.

I've gone ahead and replaced the SSD with a 980 evo pro anyway and cloned windows over. Hoping it was the drive that was bad and not something else!

Wonder if it will still be ok for games and programs ?[/MEDIA]
