i have had this issue for so incredibly long and im really drained from trying to fix it,
when im playing a game i can tell my pc is about to freeze as ingame images or words will disappear - for example when i open the destiny 2 menu and there are no words and around 20 seconds later my whole pc will freeze, i can move my mouse around but that's it, i can't open task manager while in this state, this will last around 30-60 seconds until it resumes everything usually resulting in my game just bugging out and me closing it through task manager. Yes I have installed my drivers up to date and updated Windows
my specs are:
W
My specs are:
Gigabyte gtx 1660 oc gpu - upgraded from gtx 1050 ti which I still had the same problems listed above
AMD FX 835cpu
Gigabyte 78LMT-USB R2 motherboard
HyperX FURY 16GB(2x8GB) ram
EVGA 600BR psu
CiT G Force Mid-Tower RGB PC Gaming Case
1TB SSD Sandisk Ultra 3d - my third storage device in less than two years had 2 hard drives before which both failed

I would really appreciate any advice or help with my situation.

1)Cpu thermal margin while in game - please use AMD Overdrive, if you haven't been already: https://www.techspot.com/downloads/4645-amd-overdrive.html
If thermal margin for the cores gets to 0 or even a negative number, then you definitely have a cooling issue.

2)HyperX FURY 16GB ram: is this a normal dual channel kit, or did you buy one and add more later?
I suggest you run Memtest86 free version - especially if you did the latter: https://www.memtest86.com/
It takes a few hours, so run it overnight. The results should be error-free, and with no system hangs or crashes.

3)Condition of the storage drive?
Your current drive may have it's own software for checking that, but just in case, I'll link one that works...

4)Your motherboard isn't adequate for handling the 125w FX cpus. They overwhelm and eventually burn out the board's VRMs.
You're then forced to downclock the cpu or just use the PowerNow! feature at #1 in bios:
Low power features
  • PowerNow!
Low power P states [1]#1: 3400 MHz, 1.225V
#2: 2800 MHz, 1.125V
#3: 2100 MHz, 1V
#4: 1400 MHz, 0.875V

5)Psu isn't great, but it's probably not the source if this was going on even with the 1050Ti.

So i played Destiny 2 on high graphics for about 10 - 15 minutes and I was getting a thermal margin of 11-19° C I am not sure if thats good or bad, I'm kinda clueless when it comes to this sorry.
But usually my game crashes and freezes my pc but it was fine for some reason when i played today.
Also yes the ram is dual 8gb sorry i forgot to add that

That's ok.

Ram is ok too.

Most likely culprit here is the motherboard being exhausted.
That's unfortunate, sorry for asking so many questions you have been very helpful thus far, do you have any good recommendations on a good motherboard I should get to replace it?
Also is my psu good enough or do I need to upgrade that as well? I cant spend too much, but thanks again for taking time out of your day just to help some stranger online I really appreciate it, you give these forums a good representation.

That's tough.
If it could be helped, I would rather not suggest a motherboard replacement for that outdated platform. No more money should be going into that - a new cpu/mobo/ram combo would be ideal.
How much is the budget?

How old is the psu? I see that it has a 3 year warranty.

The psu is around a year and a half old as is the motherboard and cpu.
I could probably squeeze in around 400 euro for the budget.
1)Ok, so still within the warranty period, at least.
2)That's certainly doable. Here's a couple of options:

Since me and logainofhades both posted the Ryzen 3600 and 3300X, I think this is the best way to show you:
[Heads up, both the reviewers used 2080Tis in their runs to rule out the possibility of gpu limitations - with less powerful gpus, the gaps between these 2 cpus will be smaller than what you see in the slides]

I don't know about Steve's 'an R3 is enough for gaming claim'. I learned my lesson with that during the Sandy/Ivy Bridge days.

Wow, thanks so much you've been a huge help, you have saved me a lot of time and effort especially since I'm not as experienced as you guys are.

Whilst I'm getting these new parts, did you say i should get a refund for my power supply and get a new one or stick with my current one
