Hello, friends! I want to ask this community for some piece of advice:
I do NOT know what to choose from (I live in Romania, we have RON currency, but I'll convert it to EUR and USD):
i9 10900KF (472 euro, 573 USD)
i7 10700KF (349 euro, 423 USD) - I WANT THE KF VERSIONS BECAUSE THEY ARE CHEAPER (they are the same as the K series, but they dont have Intel HD integrated and they re
like 50 euro cheaper cuz of this)
Ryzen 5 5600x ( 369 eur, 435 USD)
Ryen 7 5800x (500 euro, 600+ USD)
My budget is 650 euro (800 usd) for:
-CPU
-CPU Cooler
-new MB
-* and perhaps * new PSU
current rig:
i5-6600k
GTX 970 4Gb
16 gb of ram (15 usable) 2.4 Ghz
Gigabyte old MB (old 1151 socket, gotta change it)
650W PSU

This Christmas I will be upgrading CPU and MB , and for my birthday in 2-3 months I'll upgrade the gpu too ( was thinking of RTX 3070 or maybe rx 6700 XT if it comes out until then)
Question is, do I have to upgrade PSU too?
And I was thinking that if i buy the I7 or the 5 Rzyen, I will have plenty of money left for another 16gb of ram upgrade (for 32 total), but is that necessary?
I play on 1920x1080 @ 144 Hz
I have had this PC for more than 5 years but its time to upgrade, thing is, I'm not quite sure what to upgrade with, any piece of advice will be gladly taken into consideration, thanks!
NOTE VERY IMPORTANT: after I upgrade the GPU too, I want to have this PC for the at least next 5 years on 1080p 144 Hz, and I am willing to spend a little extra cash to make it future proof, and in this case
shall i go with ryzen 5 or i7 and buy more ram too, or is my ram enough for 1080 and shall i go for the i9 or ryzen 7 directly?

I would go for the 5800X and call it a day.8 cores and 16 threads are more than enough for gaming, even in 5 years. You dont need 32gb of ram for gaming, its just a waste of money.16gb is the sweet spot for gaming.Pair that 5800X with a 3070/6700XT and you are all good to go for 1080p 144hz gaming.

Your system looks like it'll be heavily GPU bound in most games, therefore I'd say
You'll likely see very little difference in real world gaming by upgrading your CPU first.

You'd be better to buy your GPU first and upgrade your CPU and mobo later, that way you'll feel the benefit while waiting on the rest of your upgrade.

For 1080p 144 I'd say a 5800X is overkill. A 5600x or 10600k would work fine. If you're not on an unlimited budget then better to buy a lower tier CPU and spend more on your GPU.

For 1080p 144Hz a 2060super is your minimum target GPU.

You don't need 32 gig or ram, 16gig is the sweet spot for gaming. Better gains will be seen investing that money in a better GPU.

These days as games get prettier you're far more likely to be GPU bound, therefore always better to spend any extra over the minimum on a GPU than having CPU headroom.

5800x's are for enthusiasts who just want awesome overkill IMO. Nothing wrong with that but if you're not pairing it with at least a 3080 it makes no sense in gaming.

Hello! I live in Romania, and I want to choose from i7 10700K and i9 10900K ( in Romania Ryzen 7 5800X is MORE expensive than the 10900k, and the ryzen 5 5600X is MORE expensive than the 10700k)
I'll be gaming at 1080P @144hz, paired with an RTX 3070. I do NOT want to spend any more coin on my PC for the next 5 years (future-proofing),
what IS the BETTER choice? i7 10700K or i9 10900K, is the difference worth it? Keep in mind that I want to future proof, so if there's really need to spend extra coin on the i9, I will gladly do it. Also,
should I consider the AMD options too? (I'm a die-hard Intel fanboy, and Ryzens cost MORE in my country, but I want the BEST FUTURE-PROOF option)
Thank you very much!

For gaming, I would go with the i7 10700K or Ryzen 5 5600x instead of the i9 10900K.
The difference in gaming performance is minimal between the 9 10900K and the i7 10700K.
The i7 10700K uses less power (runs cooler) when going above the base frequency.

Don't just consider the price of the CPU but the motherboard when comparing prices between AMD & Intel.
When it comes to tech, there isn't such thing as future proofing and that's more so with Intel platforms.
Get the best hardware for the task at hand.

if i upgrade to the 3070 now, it will surely bottleneck. This is why I will want to upgrade CPU first, I ll get the GPU in february. So you re saying that an 10700k would be more than enough? I have heard that the new 10700k is the old 9900K

Good day everyone! I am currently looking to upgrade my PC, but since my budget is a little tight, for Christmas I'll do a CPU upgrade and for my birthday, in february, I'll get a 3060 ti or 3070.
Now I have:
i5 6600k
gtx 970
16 gb @2.13Ghz

I have very good deals in Romania for the i9 10900k and i7 10700k (10900k is cheaper than ryzen 7 5800x, and the 10700k is the same price as the ryzen 5 5600x) I'm looking for a budget/mid range Z490 mobo as well. Which should I get between the 10700k and 10900k (is the 10900k that much of a waste of money -150 euro more expensive here, is the difference that low or is it worth?) Also, is considering AMD a true option since the 10700k is same price as the zen 5 5600x and the 10900k even cheaper than 7 5800x) NOTE: I want to build smth that s futurr proof, after these 2 upgrades i wont want to buy anything else for the next 5 years cuz im only gaming at 1080p 144hz

If you upgrade your GPU now you will find your CPU bottleneck as your new GPU will be able to use the full potential of your CPU, but you'll see a significant performance boost as your CPU is easily capable of outperforming your GTX970.

If you upgrade your GPU first then you'll probably see no real difference as your GPU is probably already bottlenecking your current CPU in games.

It's easy to test, play your favourite games and turn the detail down to the lowest setting with everything set to minimum at your target resolution, you'll see what your CPU is capable of. You might even be happy with the results!
Remember the CPU only draws the framework, your GPU colours it in - so even on low detail your CPU is doing the same thing, but at low detail your GPU is lightly loaded so it can run far higher frame rates.

For a 3070 - you'd be better with a mid range CPU and a 3080, from what I've read the i5 10600k and Ryzen 5 3600 will keep up with a 3080, but best do some googling because I've been more looking towards mid range cards and CPU's.

the 10700K looked to be quite attractively priced of the options you listed.

Are the R5-5600X/5800X options a few percent faster? Yes. Noticeably? Doubtful.
No they're much faster, but the GPU capability becomes the limiting factor, unless you play competitive settings (low detail, ultra high frame rate) then in real world gaming your CPU won't be fully loaded, so you're really just buying headroom or productivity benefits rather than gaming performance.

For actual performance that money is better spent on a better tier GPU, just my thoughts based on my own research though, I'm not by any means trying to convince you!

Sorry I meant that the 5800x is much faster then the i7..

Good day! I'm looking to upgrade my PC: I'll first upgrade my CPU and motherboard, and then I'll upgrade the GPU and PSU (in a couple of months). I want to build someting that's future-proof (so I won't need to upgrade for at least 5 years, I'm currently
gaming on 144 Hz ; 1920x1080 monitor). Current rig is: i5-6600k @ 3.5 Ghz (3.8 OC); MSI GTX 970 4 GB GDDR5 (stock); old Gigabyte motherboard; 16 GB Kingston RAM 2.13 Ghz ; Corsair 650W PSU.

Which CPU is best, and also best value: the i7-10700k or the i9-10900k, for 1080p 144 hz future-proof gaming? is conisdering AMD Ryzen an option since where I alive the Ryzen 5 5600x is actually MORE expensive than the i7 10700k and they Ryzen 7 5800x even more expensive than the i9 10900k. And my socket 1151 cooler should be just fine on an 1200 motherboard?

Also what's the best Z490 budget (or maybe best mid-range/best value) that I can buy?

I'll be upgrading the CPU and motherboard in a couple of days, and for my birthday, in February, depending on budget, I'll get a 3070 or 3080. Which CPU should I buy now for this?

Thank you so much, in advance!
