Please keep your new build discussion to 1 thread.
I wanted to save some money on my new PC. My friend and I have been tweaking this list for 5 months now, preparing. If there’s anything different you’d do, please let me know. Feedback would be great!
The PC will be used for gaming in 1080p 144hz (GTA V, Minecraft, Warzone, Roblox), streaming (sometimes), recording, editing 1080p footage (DaVinci Resolve 16), and potentially Linux for ethical hacking.

PCPartPicker List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ggFX4n

Also I had a few questions:
  1. Would I need a fan splitter or any cables for the 2 extra fans on the list? If so, can you give me a link.
  2. Anywhere I can save a bit of money?
  3. Are there better parts suited for my budget of $1000? (The budget is for the PC parts, not including the monitor).

Sorry I didn’t interpret that correctly the first time. Should I be getting an NVME SSD or an M.2 SSD? And what’s the difference?
These are the same drives the regular SSD is actually lower priced with the exact performance.

These NVME drives are much faster the Crucial P1 is faster than what you have listed the WD drive is better quality for just a couple bucks more. In real life performance their not much difference unless your just running benchmarks but their still faster.

For your fans their not really going to match colors (sync) because your buying 2 different models. The case comes with SP pros...

what i can say , you can save on ram, No need for 3600 lower is ok too coz it doesn't make too much of a difference.
and for mbo go with some b550 or something like that. I've been said that coz it has pcie 4.0 . better for future compatibility and support for ryzen is better.(i know some b450 need bios upgrades to handle ryzen 3000 series)

-i got my knowledge cos im building a pc now too with ryzen 3600 but with rtx 2060
-also if ur using ssd like me for windows only and some files and not games go with 250gb if price is somewhat different.I saved alot by going with 240gb insted 500

The 500GB SSD is cheaper than the 256GB one, lol. I was originally going to go with DDR4-3200 Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB but decided to get the cheaper RAM with faster speeds. Should I get even cheaper RAM (no RGB, 3200)? I was wondering if 3200 is enough.

The B450 I was going to get doesn’t need a BIOS update to support the 3600 according to PCPartPicker. Wanted to save some money and I don’t think a B550 is worth it for me.

-yea if it affects your budget go for it
-3200 ram is plenty, if you are like me going for cheaper RGB ain't it XD, usually rgb marketed items are more expensive, i know corsair LPX is good and i even got it. But check your local prices , theres always a cheaper item at some place.

I’ve done a bunch of tweaking recently and chose a 2060 super instead of a 2070 super, since this is my first build and I’ll be playing at 1080p 60fps. I wanted some feedback. Thanks!

Is there something specific about the Tomahawk MAX motherboard? You can get a different B450 MAX that has WIFI pre-installed.

I an so NOT a fan of WIFI for desktops, that I hate to see money spent on it. Have you looked at powerline network adapters ?
Yes I’ve looked at power line adapters. I’m not sure if my electrical system is capable of delivering fast internet speeds. My home was built in 1993, not super new but not old either. I currently have 300mbps Fios and wifi gives me around 140-180mbps. I’ve been a bit hesitant about power line because I’m not sure about its reliability or how good it can be. You think power line would work well in my situation?

So you down vote my post just because I told you the truth about the M.2 Drive?

That is not a NVME drive its just a regular SSD in M.2 form factor!

If you have FIOS, is there coax available in your room? You might be able to use MoCA.

NVMe is a controller. M.2 is a connector.

NVMe drives normally comes in an M.2 pci-e drive, U.2 drive or a pci-e card.

M.2 ports have 3 possible support options Sata, Pci-e, or both. Most support either but there some some that will only support Sata or PCI-e, you will need to consult the specs or manual of the motherboard to ensure compatibility.

So should the M.2-2280 SSD I’m getting have NVME? I’m a bit confused here.

The controller that comes with the case is for RGB only (up to 6 fans) no fan connectors so with 5 fans you will need one splitter cable. Might as well get a 3 way in case you wish to fill all case fan slots. The motherboard comes with 4 fan headers.
https://www.amazon.com/DZS-Elec-Spl...ter+cable&qid=1596582945&s=electronics&sr=1-5

The case is not something I would buy since it only has a dust filter for the power supply but to each their own you will just need to clean out the PC a little more often.

The stock coolers are rather bad and will actually limit your boost clock speed with PBO enabled that is what AMD calls that their turbo boost for the processor speed. I would add a decent aftermarket cooler this one is fairly good.

Power line vs WIFI. My house is 25 years old and all I use is power line, these are the upgrade from what I have mine are AV 300. Just tested mine direct cable from the router and my wife's PL. mine 33.48mbs and 12.1, hers on the power line 32.54 and 12.02. Stability has never been a issue. You can run speed test to actually check your speeds https://www.speedtest.net/

EDIT That is all I really have to say about your build I was not really going to help after the down vote even though I seen things that were not really right!

No biggie just seen things that I would not do and were not really right. For the Power Line adapters these get plugged directly in the wall outlet DO NOT plug them into a power strip or surge protector. As for my results their were very little difference in a direct cable and the PL kit the kit I listed is better than mine so if your direct cable speed is faster then the PL kit should still be close.

Make sure you read my post again I EDITED it a few times for things I left off that I thought would matter!

A down vote don't bother me if I'm wrong, I think one time I was wrong but don't really remember I think I was like 3 years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :);)🆒:benetton::homer::)

Run the Speed test you might be surprised what your actually getting.

Anywhere I can save a bit of money?
For a build around this price range, I probably wouldn't spend $40 on a 24-pin motherboard extension cable that doesn't serve much purpose aside from looking a little bit nicer. That's roughly the difference between going with a 500GB SSD and a 1TB SSD.

And if you are going to spend money on zip-ties to manage cables, I would go with the reusable velcro variety instead, as those can be found on sites like Amazon for a similar price. Search Amazon for "velcro ties" and you should find a variety of "hook and loop" ties from various brands. The traditional plastic zip ties tend to be rather annoying when you want to unhook some cable and find you need cut a bunch of hard plastic bands to get it undone, then re-apply a new set afterward. The velcro ties tend to be a lot more convenient.

Also, the current cost of a B450 Tomahawk combined with that $35 wireless card adds up to $160, so you might be better off going with a board with Wi-fi built-in, if you feel you really need it. Or, I know things like powerline adapters were mentioned above, but have you considered the practicality of simply running an ethernet cable from your room to the router? A wired connection will generally be more reliable and can perform better, and standard round CAT5e or better cable can be run hundreds of feet, if needed. You should probably stay away from the flat variety for long runs though, as it can be more prone to interference.
